Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Monday, 04/11/11 and Tuesday, 04/12/11. ***** ADMINISTRATIVE ALERT MESSAGE ***** UTPD is asking the community for help in identifying a suspect in an early Sunday morning burglary case. A female student reported waking up to a man on her bed in her Moore-Hill dorm room shortly after 3:00 am on April 10, 2011. The suspect was described as an Asian male, with short straight black hair wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts. Anyone with information pertaining to this burglary or the identification of the suspect in the case is asked to contact UTPD at 471-4441 or Criminal Investigations Unit Sergeant Chris Bonnet at 232-9639. BLANTON DORMITORY, 2500 University Ave Theft: A red Gary Fisher mountain bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on the west side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred between 4-8-11 and 4-11-11. CAROTHERS DORMITORY, 2501 Whitis Ave Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping inside the reading room located in the basement of the dormitory. During the investigation, the subject handed the officers his Oklahoma ID card, but did not explain why he was there. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 4-11-11, at 4:10 PM. INTRAMURAL FIELD, 4901 Guadalupe Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT contractor reported her black bag containing two sets of issued UT keys, personal identification, and an AM/FM radio were stolen from her vehicle. During the investigation, the officer learned the victim had left her vehicle windows cracked while she was working at IMF. Loss value: $110.00. Occurred on: 4-11-11, between 5:00 PM and 7:25 PM. PARKING LOT 37, 2200 Red River Criminal Mischief: A UT student discovered an unknown subject had used a tool to punch out the driver’s side lock of his vehicle. Estimated Repair Value: $100.00. Occurred on: 4-11-11, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. PARKING LOT 114, 2200 Leona Street Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT Police Officer discovered the driver’s side window of a blue Ford Explorer broken out. The officer observed an opening in the dashboard where an unknown model stereo system used to reside. During the investigation, the officers were unable to contact the current owner of the vehicle. Loss value: Unknown at this time. Discovered on: 4-12-11, at 4:45 AM. PETER T. FLAWN ACADEMIC CENTER, #2 West Mall Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT student observed a non-UT subject approach several bicycles that were secured to the railing on the south side of the building and begin pulling on the locks. When the subject was unable to remove the bicycle he turned around and walked away. During the investigation, the subject informed the officer he was simply picking up cigarette butts so he could finish smoking them later. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 4-12-11, at 2:24 AM. REC SPORTS CENTER, 2001 San Jacinto Blvd. Theft: An Apple iPhone in a black case was reported stolen from inside the REC Sports foyer. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred on: 4-11-11, between 5:30 PM and 6:15 PM. SID RICHARDSON HALL, 2300 Red River Suspicious Person: A UT staff member reported an unknown subject stuck his head into her office and asked her if she had any books that she would be interested in selling. The subject left the area after being told no. During the investigation, the officers learned the subject had walked through the entire building approaching different staff members with the same request. The unknown subject was described as: White Male, shoulder length curly hair and thin build. He was last seen wearing a tan jacket. Occurred on: 4-11-11, at 3:15 PM. 200 BLOCK WEST 21st STREET Criminal Trespass Warning (2 Counts): Two non-UT subjects were reported soliciting in and around the Littlefield Fountain and the South Mall. The officers located both subjects and issued them written Criminal Trespass Warnings and escorted them from the area. Occurred on: 4-11-11, at 6:00 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 18 Alarm Calls, 2 Suspicious Person Reports, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 4 Burned out Light, and 3 Unsecured Door Report between 04/11/11 and 04//11.
