Report for 04/15/2011


Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Thursday, 04/14/11 and Friday, 04/15/11. BELLMONT HALL, 2109 San Jacinto Blvd Suspicious Person: A UT staff member reported an unknown subject was seen walking into and exiting offices located on the second floor. The subject would encounter staff members and ask them for envelopes. When told to leave, the subject would then ask for directions out of the building or ask for a drink of water. A male staff member was notified and asked to escort the subject from the building. The unknown subject was described as: White male, 5’-10”, wearing a blue polo style shirt and tan pants. Occurred on: 4-14-11, at 2:45 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: A UT student reported his backpack containing a lime Green Dell laptop computer, black leather wallet, personal identification, several credit cards, and an Organic Chemistry textbook was stolen after left unattended. Loss value: $875.00. Occurred on: 4-14-11, between 5:30 PM and 6:15 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Theft: A black Android cellular telephone was reported stolen after being left unattended next to the bleachers while the former owner was playing basketball. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred on: 4-14-11, between 5:30 PM and 6:15 PM. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Indecent Exposure: A UT student reported an unknown male was standing in the shower masturbating while watching him shower. The student left the shower and quickly notified the Rec Sports staff. During the investigation, the officers searched the area with negative results. The unknown subject was described as: white male, with redish brown hair. Sorry, no clothing description was provided. Occurred on: 4-14-11, at 3:30 PM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Theft (2 Counts): Two UT students reported they had left their backpacks unattended next to the seating area at the Spanish Oaks Terrace. Upon their return, both discovered several personal items including an Apple iPhone, My Touch cellular telephone, several credit cards and personal identification had been removed from the backpacks. Loss value: $234.00. Occurred on: 4-14-11, between 8:00 PM and 8:40 PM. PARKING LOT 104, 1900 Block North IH-35 Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping next to the southwest corner of the baseball stadium. The subject informed the officers he was homeless and needed a place to sleep. The subject was issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. The officer provided the subject with directions to several shelters that were within walking distance. Occurred on: 4-15-11, at 5:37 AM. STUDENT ACTIVITY CENTER, 2200 Speedway Theft: A blue Giant mountain bicycle was reported stolen after being secured to a post located on the south side of the building with a small U-shaped lock. Loss value: $750.00. Occurred between 4-13-11, at 8:00 PM and 4-14-11, at 12:01 AM. 200 BLOCK WEST 21st STREET Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT Police Officer observed a UT student staggering back and forth as he attempted to navigate the straight parallel lines of the sidewalk. After many zigs and one too many zags, the subject began exhibiting an extreme physical reaction to the over-consumption of alcohol. After providing his alcohol enriched compost to the University owned landscape, the student was stopped. The officer recognized the student from an alcohol related incident a month earlier. The officer detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the student’s breath and already knew he was under the legal age of 21. The student was issued a court appearance citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 4-15-11, at 2:30 AM. 300 BLOCK WEST 21st STREET Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT staff member was informed a non-UT subject was attempting to sell CDs to passing students and then asking female students for a kiss. During the investigation, the officers located the subject as he was attempting to sell his wares to other students. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the property. Occurred on: 4-14-11, at 4:40 PM. 1900 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was observed staggering around Clark Field and stopping at all of the trashcans. During the investigation, the subject informed the officers he was collecting cans in order to recycle. The officer soon discovered the subject had established a campsite under the pedestrian bridge leading onto Clark Field from San Jacinto. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the property. Occurred on: 4-14-11, at 4:38 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 17 Alarm Calls, 2 Suspicious Person Reports, and 3 Unsecured Door Report between 04/14/11 and 04/15/11.
