Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Thursday, 04/21/11 and Friday, 04/22/11. INTRAMURAL FIELDS, 4901 Guadalupe Criminal Mischief: A UT student reported the driver’s side rear passenger window of his Toyota was discovered broken out. An inventory of the vehicle was conducted and no personal property was discovered missing. Repair value: $150.00. Occurred on: 4-21-11, between 7:26 PM and 9:11 PM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A silver Apple laptop computer was reported stolen after being removed from a closed backpack located inside a 2nd floor study lounge. Loss value: $600.00. Occurred between: 4-14-11 and 4-16-11. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UT Staff member discovered the odor of burning marijuana coming from a 10th floor dormitory room. The responding officers confirmed the odor was coming from a 10th floor dorm room. During the investigation, the resident informed the officers that neither he nor his roommate did illegal drugs. He had entered his room and had detected the odor hours earlier. During a search of the room, officers located a green glass pipe containing burned marijuana residue in the bowl. The student informed the officers that he always leaves his dorm room unlocked. He later recanted his story and told the officers that the pipe was his after the officer noted physical signs of intoxication with the student. The pipe was confiscated and the student was issued a court appearance citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Occurred on: 4-22-11, at 12:13 AM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Theft: A black Apple iPhone was reported stolen after being left unattended and unsecured on top of a counter. Loss value: $300.00. Occurred on: 4-21-11, between 4:30 Pm and 5:00 PM. 200 BLOCK WEST 24th STREET Assault by Contact: An unknown subject walked up behind a UT student and grabbed her by the arm. The student turned to see who had grabbed her and pulled away. During the investigation, the officers searched the area with negative results. The subject was described as: white male, 60 to 70 years of age, balding, last seen wearing black pants, homeless in appearance. Occurred on: 4-21-11, at 7:25 PM. 200 BLOCK WEST 24th STREET Public Intoxication: A UT Police Officer observed three UT students staggering back and forth as they attempted to walk along a straight sidewalk. One student utilized a prepositioned retaining wall to maintain his balance. During the investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the students’ breaths. One student informed the officer he had consumed only four shots. While the other stated, “As much as you will believe me, sir.” The officers noted other signs of intoxication as well as injuries they had sustained from falling down. The students were taken into custody for Public Intoxication and were transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 4-22-11, at 2:21 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 21 Alarm Calls, 2 Call Box Alarms, 2 Suspicious Person Reports, 1 Suspicious Activity Reports, and 2 Unsecured Door Report between 04/21/11 and 04/22/11.
