Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Tuesday, 04/26/11 and Wednesday, 04/27/11. FOOTBRIDGE, 200 East Dean Keeton Graffiti: Some unknown subject or subjects used purple spray paint to stencil a seahorse on UT property. Clean up cost: $100.00. Found on: 04-27-11, at 3:20 AM. CHEMICAL PATROLEUM ENGINEERING, 200 East Dean Keeton Street Graffiti: Some unknown subject or subjects used black spray paint to stencil a seahorse on UT property. Clean up cost: $100.00. Found on: 04-27-11, at 2:49 AM. WAGGENER HALL, 2210 Speedway Graffiti: Some unknown subject or subjects used pink and black paint to paint snails on UT property. Clean up cost: $30.00. Found on: 04-26-11, at 9:15 AM PETER T. FLAWN ACADEMIC CENTER Graffiti: Some unknown subject or subjects used pink and white paint to paint a snail on UT property. Clean up cost: $60.00. Found on: 04-26-11, at 8:36 AM COLORADO BUILDING, 702 Colorado Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was reported to have jumped a secured gate. The subject wanted to take pictures from the rooftop. The officers issued the subject a written Criminal Trespass Warning and escorted him from the area. Occurred on: 04-27-11, at 12:09 AM. 100 West 21st Street Theft: A UT Student had several items stolen from his parked motorcycle. An unknown subject or subjects cut the UT Student’s cable lock to steal the items. Occurred on 04-26-11, between 12:50 PM and 1:50 PM. PARKING LOT OF INTRAMURAL FIELDS, 4901 Guadalupe Street Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT Staff Member reported her back driver’s side window of her Chevy Tahoe broken out. The only item missing was her purse. Her purse was turned into IMF’s lost and found. The only item missing from her purse was her sunglasses case. Cost to replace broken window: $150.00. Cost for sunglasses case: $15.00. Occurred on 04-26-11, between 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM. TRINITY PARKING GARAGE, 1815 Trinity Criminal Mischief: A UT Student reported his bicycle and 2 locks damaged. His bicycle had been locked on the garage bike rack. Damage to property: $600.00. Occurred between 04-21-11, at 5:00 PM and 04-26-11, at 5:30 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 25 Alarm Calls, 1 Terroristic Threat Report, 2 EMS Calls, 2 False 911 Calls, 1 Key Assist, 1 Suspicious Person Report, and 2 Unsecured Door Reports between 04/26/11 and 04/27/11. Emergency Text Message Service The University of Texas at Austin and its police department are responsible for notifying faculty, staff, and students of emergency situations (e.g., inclement weather, building evacuations, campus closures, etc.). The University employs a wide variety of tools to make sure everyone on campus is informed during an emergency event—including text messaging. In order to accomplish emergency text messaging more effectively, the University is collecting cell phone numbers from members of our campus community. Effective August 26, 2009, this database of cell phone numbers will be used for emergency text messages. RAD Program For Women, Now Available (Classes are FREE) Advanced RAD Classes Being Held for RAD Class Graduates The RAD program is a 16-hour course of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women that cover assault prevention and risk reduction while progressing on to basic hands-on defense training. http://www.utexas.edu/police/rad/ Defensive Driving: Learn Defensive Driving from a UTPD Police Officer. UTPD generally schedules a Defensive Driving Class approximately once a month – based on need. The classes meet in the University Police Building, Room 1.318, located at 2201 Robert Dedman Dr (east of Memorial Stadium). The cost for the course is $25.00 (check or cash) payable on class date. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount because change may not be available. You will also need to bring your driver's license. BCAL provides a central resource for UT faculty, students, and staff who may have concerns about the behavior or well-being of another member of the campus community. By calling BCAL at 512-232-5050, callers may talk with trained staff members who will assist the caller in exploring available options and strategies as well as referrals to appropriate campus support networks.
