Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Thursday, 5/12/11 and Friday, 5/13/11. JESTER EAST DORMITORY, 203 East 21st Street Theft: A white iPod and an iPod docking station were reported stolen from an unlocked 2nd floor dormitory room after the occupant left the room unsecured. Loss value: $250.00. Occurred on: 5-11-11, between 11:00 PM and 11:59 PM. PARKING LOT 35, 2200 Comal Graffiti: Words written in black indelible marker were discovered on the side of a Daily Texan dispenser. Estimated repair: $50.00. Discovered on: 5-12-11, at 6:53 PM. WELCH HALL, 105 East 24th Street Suspicious Person: UT Police Officers responded to a report of a subject knocking and banging on a 3rd floor office door. The subject was still at the door when the officers arrived. During the investigation, the officers learned a UT professor had caught the student cheating during a final exam. After the test had been administered the student followed the professor to his office attempting to apologize for his actions. After being told to leave, the student refused to leave the area and continued to apologize. The student was issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the building. Occurred on: 5-12-11, at 10:25 PM. Commentary: For every action there is always a reaction. It is a shame this student ended the semester on a high note. 300 BLOCK EAST MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD Driving While Intoxicated: A UT Police Officer observed a white Ford sedan disregard a solid red light and almost collide with a police vehicle clearing the intersection. During the traffic investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the UT student driver’s breath. The officers noted the driver’s eyes were bloodshot and watery. He was very slow to respond to questions or requests. The officers administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests and the driver displayed additional clues of intoxication. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-13-11, at 2:10 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 21 Alarm Calls, 1 EMS Call, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 2 Suspicious Person Reports, and 3 Unsecured Door Reports between 05/12/11 and 05/13/11.
