Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Tuesday, 05/24/11 and Wednesday, 05/25/11. BIO MEDICAL ENGINEERING BUILDING, 107 West Dean Keeton Theft: A backpack containing an HP laptop computer, external hard drive, iPhone charger, and a TI83 calculator was reported stolen after being left unattended inside an unsecured third floor room. During the investigation, the officer learns an unknown subject was seen walking up and down the hallway, then leaves the area quickly. The unknown subject was described as: Black male, wearing a black pants and a black shirt, with red strips running down the sleeves. Loss value: $715.00. Occurred on: 5-24-11 between 12:50 PM and 1:30 PM. BRACKENRIDGE APARTMENTS, 3301 Lake Austin Blvd Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT student discovered a Kenwood stereo had been removed from his vehicle. During the investigation, the officer determined entry had been made when a pry tool had been used on the window. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred between: 5-23-11 at 5:15 PM and 5-24-11, at 7:00 AM. BRACKENRIDGE APARTMENTS, 3301 Lake Austin Blvd Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT student discovered the driver’s side window of his vehicle shattered and his Sony stereo missing. Estimated Damage $300.00. Loss value: $100.00. Discovered on: 5-24-11, at 8:15 AM. BRACKENRIDGE APARTMENTS, 3301 Lake Austin Blvd Burglary of Motor Vehicle: While investigating the second BOV, a UT student reported his vehicle had also been broken into and his stereo system had been taken. No further information provided. Reported on: 5-24-11, at 8:15 AM. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Suspicious Person: A UT staff member heard a “WHOOOO-HOOOO” and observed a white male subject running through the building and down a hallway heading towards Gregory Gym. The subject was described as average height, athletic build with pale skin. No clothing description was available since the subject was running through campus naked. Occurred on: 5-25-11, at 3:11 AM. PARKING LOT 70, 2000 Block Robert Dedman Driving While Intoxicated / Public Intoxication: A UT Police Officer observed a green Mitsubishi travelling at a high rate of speed. During the traffic investigation, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The non-UT driver, informed the officer that he had consumed several tall cans of beer at a local downtown establishment. The officer observed several open and empty cans of beer inside the vehicle. The officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests to the driver. The driver displayed a number of clues that indicated he was intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated. During the investigation, the officers observed a passenger inside the vehicle. The officers determined the passenger was also intoxicated and was taken into custody for Public Intoxication. Both subjects were transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 5-25-11, at 1:40 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 19 Alarm Calls, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 2 Suspicious Persons Reports, and 2 Unsecured Door Reports between 05/24/11 and 05/25/11.
