Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Friday, 06/10/11 and Monday, 06/13/11. * * * * ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE * * * * * Last week UTPD received two reported incidents where students were bitten after attempting to pet a monkey. Earlier today, the UTPD received notification a group of students were outside Jester Dormitory with a monkey. We would like to remind everyone, be aware monkeys do bite. You are encouraged to notify the UT Police Department at 512-471-4441 if you encounter this animal. HOGG MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM, 2300 Whitis Ave Criminal Trespass: UT Police Officers responded to a suspicious person call at HMA. During the investigation, the officers located the subject and learned the subject had received a prior Criminal Trespass Warning for the same area. The subject was taken into custody for Criminal Trespass and was transported to Central Booking. In addition to the law enforcement action taken, the subject was issued another written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 6-10-11, at 4:45 PM. JESTER EAST DORMITORY, 203 East 21st Street Public Intoxication / Evading Arrest or Detention: Two UT staff members heard a non-UT subject banging on an exterior door, demanding to be let in. The staff members, both orientation advisors, notified the UT Police Department. Upon the arrival of the police officers, the subject attempted to hide, than decided he could outrun the responding offices. After a short jaunt around the dormitory the subject was taken into custody. During the investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath and learned he was coming from a bachelor party. The officers learned the subject had become separated from his friends and did not know where the transporting elixir had taken him. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-11-11, at 2:33 AM. PARKING LOT 56, 2600 Block San Jacinto Blvd. Criminal Mischief: A UT student discovered a large dent in the driver’s side rear quarter panel of her vehicle. During the investigation, the officers observed a shoe print in the center of the dent. Estimated damage: $3,000.00. Occurred on: 6-12-11, between 2:15 AM and 3:15 AM. PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, 510 East 23rd Street Public Intoxication: A UT staff member reported two non-UT subjects were involved in a disturbance inside the theater during a performance. Prior to the arrival of the officers the subjects had left the building to continue arguing. During the investigation, one subject refused to talk to the officers and the other informed them that her boyfriend was picking them up. The officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subjects’ breaths. While the officers were talking to the subjects, the boyfriend arrived and the two intoxicated subjects were released into the care and custody of the sober boyfriend. Occurred on: 6-12-11, at 9:57 PM. 2100 BLOCK GUADALUPE Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed staggering back and forth as he attempted to maintain his direction of travel. During the investigation, the subject informed the officers he had consumed a 12-pack of beer at a local downtown establishment. The officers detected a moderate to strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath and noted other signs of intoxication. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-12-11, at 3:10 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 45 Alarm Calls, 2 Callbox Alarm, 4 EMS Call, 3 Suspicious Activity Reports, 3 Suspicious Person Reports, 2 malfunctioning light reports, and 10 Unsecured Door Reports between 06/10/11 and 06/13/11.
