Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Thursday, 06/16/11 and Friday, 06/17/11. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Assault / Criminal Trespass Warning: Two groups of non-UT subjects were leaving the Underground. Both groups got into a heated exchange of words. After exchanging words, the suspects began exchanging punches with the other group. When the suspects heard the police were on their way, they decided to leave the area. The responding officers observed the suspects as they were walking away from the area. The suspects attempted to flee the area and were taken into custody for Assault. All three were transported to Central Booking. In addition to the law enforcement action taken, the subjects were issued written Criminal Trespass Warnings. Occurred on: 6-16-11, at 10:08 PM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Theft: A UT staff member discovered a framed 9” x 9” black and white photograph had been stolen from an unsecured fourth floor room. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred between: 5-20-11 and 6-14-11. 300 BLOCK WEST 21st STREET Public Intoxication / Assist Outside Agency / Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered passed out next to the Littlefield Fountain. The officer observed a large amount of cash sticking out of the subject’s pants pocket. After being awoke, the subject was confused as to the day and time. The officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath and noted other signs of intoxication. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Prior to transport to Central Booking, the officers learned the subject had an outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrant. In addition to the law enforcement actions taken, the subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 6-17-11, at 12:08 AM. 2200 BLOCK GUADALUPE Public Intoxication / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor / Failure to Identify: A UT Police Officer observed a non-UT subject half carrying / half dragging a very intoxicated UT student along the sidewalk. During the investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the student’s breath and noted other signs of intoxication. The officers learned both subjects were coming from a local downtown establishment. When asked for her ID, the student handed the officers her cellular telephone with a confused look on her face. The student was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. The officers were attempting to identify the non-UT subject after being given several false names and dates of birth. When the officers attempted to take the subject into custody, the subject turned to run and was greeted by a third officer standing behind him. The subject was taken into custody. Occurred on: 6-17-11, at 2:40 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 20 Alarm Calls, 1 False 911 Call, 1 Malfunctioning Light, and 2 Unsecured Door Reports between 06/16/11 and 06/17/11.
