Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Friday, 06/17/11 and Monday, 06/20/11. BRACKENRIDGE APARTMENTS, 3350 Lake Austin Blvd Assault with Bodily Injury: A non-UT subject activated a UT Emergency Phone to report she had been assaulted by her husband. During the investigation, the officers learned the suspect had repeatedly struck her with a closed fist. While talking to the victim, the suspect drove up to the officers and was taken into custody for Assault with Bodily Injury. The suspect, a UT student, was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-20-11, at 2:55 AM. ERNEST COCKRELL HALL, 301 East Dean Keeton Burglary: A UT staff member discovered a black Acer laptop computer had been stolen from a secured 7th floor lab. During the investigation, the officer learned the computer had been secured to the work station with a thin self-locking cable lock. The cable lock showed signs it had been cut and pried in order to remove it from the laptop computer. Loss value: $1,000.00. Occurred between: 6-17-11 and 6-18-11. GUADALUPE PARKING GARAGE, 1616 Guadalupe Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping on the west side of the parking garage. During the investigation, the officers learned the subject had two outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrants. The subject was taken into custody and transported to Central Booking. In addition to the law enforcement action taken, the subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 6-17-11, at 1:21 PM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Suspicious Person: UT Police Officers responded to the 6th floor on a report of an unknown female yelling and creating a disturbance. The responding officers searched the area and surmised the unknown subject had left prior to their arrival. Occurred on: 6-18-11, at 7:56 PM. RED AND CHARLINE MCCOMBS FIELD, 2001 Comal Theft: A UT staff member reported her Samsung cellular telephone was stolen after being left unattended next to the southwest gate. During the investigation, the officers learned the staff member had unlocked the gate to accept a delivery. An unknown subject approached the staff member and offered to assist the delivery driver, but made an excuse to use the restroom. A short time later the staff member discovered her property missing. The unknown subject was described as: Black male, 5’-7”, 50 to 60 years of age, 150 pounds, grey hair and grey facial hair. Subject was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt and sweat pants. Loss value: $40.00. Occurred on: 6-17-11, between 11:00 AM and 11:15 AM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping on the northwest side of the Texas Union. The subject became agitated with the officers and the officers soon learned why. It was not because the officers had disturbed his slumber, the subject has a No Extradition warrant for Assault on a Peace Officer from another state. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and escorted from the property. Occurred on: 6-19-11, at 8:25 AM. 1900 BLOCK COMAL Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered reclining on the retaining wall located on the southeast portion of UFCU-DFF. During the investigation, the subject informed the officers that he had slept there in the past. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-19-11, at 11:45 PM. 2300 BLOCK GUADALUPE Graffiti / Assist Outside Agency: A UT Police Officer observed an aspiring Picasso moving from building to building along Guadalupe, perspiring as he used a black magic marker to mark up the exterior walls. When stopped by the officers, the subject asked the officers if they wanted him to start cleaning the walls and remove his markings. The subject was taken into custody for Graffiti and transported to Central Booking. Prior to being transported to Central Booking, the officers learned the subject had an outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrant. Estimated loss: Unknown at this time. Occurred on: 6-19-11, at 4:07 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 31 Alarm Calls, 1 Suspicious Activity report, 2 Suspicious Person reports, 6 Malfunctioning Light reports, and 7 Unsecured Door Reports between 06/17/11 and 06/20/11.
