Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Tuesday, 06/21/11 and Wednesday, 06/22/11. * * * * * ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE * * * * * The City of Austin Police Department has asked The University of Texas Police Department to assist them in passing along the following attached information. APD is asking for your assistance, if you observe this subject notify the Austin Police Department by dialing 911. Both the Austin Police Department and The University of Texas Police Department would encourage you to call 911 to report all suspicious persons or suspicious activity. JESTER EAST DORMITORY, 203 East 21st Street Consumption of Alcohol by Minor: A UT student reported hearing his orientation roommate fall out of his bed and hit the floor. The student stated his roommate then got up walked over to his side of the room and began marking his territory. During the investigation, the officers located the subject inside a 4th floor dormitory room. The officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath and learned he was under the legal age of 21. The student informed the officers he had been to two separate fraternity parties were he had consumed several mixed drinks and four to five beers. He did not remember falling out of his bed nor did he remember damaging his roommate’s property while he was marking his territory. The student was issued a court appearance citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 6-22-11, at 3:45 AM. JESTER EAST DORMITORY, 203 East 21st Street Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor / Possession of More than One Valid Driver License: UT staff members reported a future UT student was sitting in the lobby of the dormitory, using a trashcan to contain a “Splash Zone” he was creating. The responding officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath as well as inside the trashcan. During the investigation, the officers learned the future UT student was under the legal age of 21 and had been consuming adult beverages at an unknown location. As the student presented the officers his correct State issued driver license, the officers noticed he was in possession of a second current license issued to another person. That license was confiscated. The officers issued the student a court appearance citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor once it was determined he was not a danger to himself or to others. Occurred on: 6-22-11, at 2:27 AM. PARKING LOT 37, 2200 Block Red River Driving While Intoxicated: A UT Police Officer discovered a silver Toyota parked inside the parking lot with its headlamps turned on. The officer discovered the non-UT driver was leaning into the passenger’s side of the vehicle passed out. The officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol inside passenger compartment as she attempted to wake the unresponsive driver. After several minutes of encouragement, the drive woke up. The officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath and noted the driver’s eyes were bloodshot and watery. The driver informed the officer he had consumed only two bottles of beer. The officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests and the driver displayed a number of clues of intoxication. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-22-11, at 12:35 AM. SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORKS, 1925 San Jacinto Blvd Theft: Upon discovering a surprise audit was about to be conducted, a UT staff member informed the auditor a large amount of money would be missing from the vault. The staff member admitted the money had been taken out and placed into his personal checking account. The audit revealed $640.00 was missing from the vault. Case is still under investigation. Occurred on: 6-20-11. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 17 Alarm Calls, 1 Suspicious Activity report, 1 Suspicious Person report, 1 Burned out Light Report, and 3 Unsecured Door Reports between 06/21/11 and 06/22/11.
