Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Thursday, 06/23/11 and Friday, 06/24/11. PRATHER HALL DORMITORY, 305 East 21st Street Burglary of Habitation: Two UT students awoke to discover the following property was missing from their 1st floor dormitory room, Apple laptop computer, silver HP laptop computer, Apple iPhone, black leather wallet, containing $55.00 in cash, several credit cards and personal ID, IPod Touch, HTC Droid cellular telephone, red leather wallet containing, $30.00 in cash and several credit cards. During the investigation, the officer learned the students had fallen asleep and had not secured their dormitory room. Total loss value: $2,010.00. Occurred on: 6-23-11, between, 2:00 AM and 7:00 AM. PRATHER HALL DORMITORY, 305 East 21st Street Burglary of Habitation: A black Hewlett Packard laptop computer and a black leather wallet containing $11.00 in cash, several credit cards and personal identification were reported stolen. Durning the investigation, the officer learned the student had left his dormitory room unsecured when he went down the hall for a few minutes. Loss value: $311.00. Occurred on: 6-23-11, between 8:20 AM and 8:30 AM. Crime Prevention Tip: This is the 4th and 5th reported Burglary inside this dormitory within the last 10 days. All four criminal acts have one common theme, all of the dormitory rooms had been left unsecured. Common Sense and Good Judgment can rule the day: Lock your doors, even if you are going down the hall. Engrave your State issued driver license number onto all of your property. These are all FREE services we offer. RESEARCH OFFICE COMPLEX, 10,100 Burnet Road Suspicious Activity: A UT staff member reported a suspicious female carrying a yellow bucket. It appeared as if she were writing something in the grass. The investigating officer arrived and discovered the letters TACC had been written out in blue chalk. The officer soon learned the Texas Advanced Computer Center would be celebrating their 10 year anniversary and the chalk had been put down so the staff members would know how to arrange themselves when their picture was taken. (Remember to stay between the lines.) No further action was taken on the officer’s part. Occurred on: 6-23-11, at 1:08 PM. 2600 BLOCK SALADO Assist Outside Agency: A non-UT subject contacted the UT Police Department and reported a non-UT subject had tried to assault her. The victim provided the officers with a description of the suspect as well as a direction of travel. Responding officers located a subject matching the description a few blocks away. The suspect was positively identified by the victim and was taken into custody. The Austin Police Department was notified and the suspect was released to the Austin Police Department. Occurred on: 6-23-11, at 6:20 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 20 Alarm Calls, 1 Medical Emergency Call, 2 Suspicious Activity reports, 1 Suspicious Person report, 1 Burned out Light Report, and 5 Unsecured Door Reports between 06/23/11 and 06/24/11.
