Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Friday, 06/24/11 and Monday, 06/27/11. BRACKENRIDGE APARTMENTS, 3301 Lake Austin Blvd. Suspicious Person: A UT Student observed an unknown subject standing next to the community garden. The subject was described as a white male, 20 years of age with short brown hair. The student was unable to provide a clothing description since the unknown subject was completely nude. During the investigation, the officers searched the area with negative results. Occurred on: 6-26-11, at 8:20 PM. NORTH OFFICE ANNEX, 101 East 27th Street Criminal Mischief: A UT Police Officer discovered a broken window. The window was located on the fifth level. Estimated repair: $400.00. Discovered on: 6-26-11, at 8:53 PM. SAN JACINTO PARKING GARAGE, 2401 San Jacinto Blvd. Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT student discovered an unknown subject had entered into her vehicle to remove the faceplate to her radio. During the investigation, the officer discovered entry into the vehicle had been gained when the convertible top was cut above the driver’s side window. Estimated damage to the vehicle: Unknown at this time. Loss value: $75.00. Occurred on: 6-25-11, between 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM. TOWNES HALL, 727 East Dean Keeton Theft: The UT Police Department received information that a non-UT subject had removed a mountain bicycle from the bike racks located on the north side of the building. During the investigation, the officers located the subject, still in possession of the mountain bicycle several blocks away. The subject was taken into custody for Theft and was transported to Central Booking. Recovered loss value: $1,300.00. Occurred on: 6-26-11, at 3:00 PM. 200 BLOCK EAST MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD. Driving While Intoxicated: A UT Police Officer observed a tan Chevy travelling without its headlamps turned on. The driver, a UT student, stopped on the exit ramp leading onto IH-35. The officer directed the driver to a safer location in order to conduct his traffic investigation. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath and learned the driver had taken several shots prior to driving her vehicle. The driver informed the officer that she had a very high tolerance to alcohol and could still drive her vehicle. The driver then went on to explain she was planning to get the oil changed in her vehicle the next day and did not notice her headlamps were not turned on. The officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests and observed a number of clues that indicated the driver was intoxicated. High tolerance or not, the driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-25-11, at 3:12 AM. 200 BLOCK JESTER CIRCLE DRIVE Possession of Marijuana / Criminal Trespass Warning: Three UT staff members observed three burglary suspects near Prather Dormitory. The staff members notified the police department and kept a watchful eye on the individuals until the police officers arrived. The subjects were in the process of leaving the area when the officers arrived. During the investigation, the officers observed a silver grinder and some green leafy substance on the back floor board of the vehicle. Two additional clear plastic baggies were discovered inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody for Possession of Marijuana and was transported to Central Booking. In addition to the law enforcement actions taken, the officers issued all three subjects a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 6-25-11, at 2:20 AM. 300 BLOCK WEST 11th STREET Driving While Intoxicated: A UT Police Officer observed a grey Ford travelling the wrong way on a posted one-way street. During the traffic investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The officer administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests and observed a number of clues that indicated the driver was intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-25-11, at 2:44 AM. 600 BLOCK COLORADO Assault with Injuries / Assist Outside Agency: A UT Police Officer observed two non-UT subjects fighting. During the investigation, the officer learned one subject had offered the other some cocaine while inside a local downtown establishment. The argument continued as they walked back to their vehicle to a point where a physical altercation occurred. The suspect began punching the victim in the face with a closed fist. While the investigation continued, the officers soon learned the suspect had an outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrant for Theft. The suspect was taken into custody for Assault and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-25-11, at 12:39 AM. 2100 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD. Assist Outside Agency / Exceeding the Posted Speed Limit / No Driver License: A UT Police Officer observed a red Mazda travelling at a high rate of speed through campus. During the traffic investigation, the driver informed the officer that he was on his way to work and needed to deliver food to the Texas Swim Center. The officer soon discovered the UT staff member did not have a driver’s license and had 6 outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrants. The staff member was taken into custody for the warrants and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-26-11, at 9:50 AM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 55 Alarm Calls, 1 Medical Emergency Call, 1 Welfare Concern, 3 Suspicious Activity reports, 3 Suspicious Person reports, 3 Burned out Light Reports, and 21 Unsecured Door Reports between 06/24/11 and 06/27/11.
