Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Monday, 06/27/11 and Tuesday, 06/28/11. UT CHARTER SCHOOL, 2200 East 6th Street Graffiti: A UT Police Officer discovered four pitch forks had been drawn in red spray paint on the concrete located on the northeast side of the property. Estimated repair: $50.00. Discovered on: 6-28-11, at 1:52 AM. DPI PARKING LOT, 1400 Block Barbara Jordan Blvd. Burglary of Motor Vehicle: A UT staff member discovered the rear passenger window of her silver Mazda shattered. After inventorying her vehicle, the staff member discovered her portable DVD player had been taken. Estimated repair: $300.00. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred on: 6-27-11, between 8:45 AM and 5:00 PM. Crime Prevention Tip: Window shopping is a great American pastime. Many thieves love to window shop as well. Only difference is, they are looking to steal not to buy. In the last few days there have been several burglary of motor vehicles throughout campus. The common trait, personal property was left in plain view within the vehicle. Either hide your personal property or better yet, remove it. 2300 BLOCK SAN JACINTO BLVD Public Intoxication: A UT student discovered a non-UT subject passed out at base of a steep drop off, next to Waller Creek. During the investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath and noted she was unresponsive. Austin EMS treated the subject at the scene and discovered a half empty 1 liter bottle of Vodka inside her purse. EMS was able to wake the subject up and learned the subject had consumed two “Four Locos” in addition to the half liter of Vodka. The subject was transported to a local area hospital for additional treatment. Occurred on: 6-27-11, at 9:20 PM. 2400 BLOCK WHITIS AVE Criminal Mischief: A UT faculty member discovered the rear passenger window of his four door silver Saturn shattered. During the investigation, the officers learned no personal property was missing from the vehicle. Estimated repair: $300.00. Occurred on: 6-27-11, between 7:15 AM and 5:55 PM. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 20 Alarm Calls, 1 Medical Emergency Call, 1 Welfare Concern, 1 Suspicious Activity report, 2 Suspicious Person reports, 3 Burned Out Light Reports, and 5 Unsecured Door Reports between 06/27/11 and 06/28/11.
