Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Wednesday, 06/29/11 and Thursday, 06/30/11. EAST MALL, 201 East 22nd Street Graffiti: A UT Police Officer discovered a drawing of an eye and an hour glass on the lower steps leading onto the East Mall. Estimated repair: $50.00. Discovered on: 6-30-11, at 12:29 AM. JESTER EAST DORMITORY, 203 East 21st Street Burglary of Habitation: A UT student attending the freshman orientation program reported his wallet containing $69.00 in cash, several credit cards, personal identification and his Blackberry cellular telephone had been stolen. During the investigation, the officer learned the stolen property had been taken from an unsecured 10th floor dormitory room. Loss value: $144.00. Occurred between: 6-28-11 and 6-29-11. TEXAS SWIM CENTER, 1900 Red River Criminal Trespass Warnings: A UT Police Officer responded to a report of unauthorized entry into the building. The officers observed a UT student attempting to hide in a corner as they entered the building. Three non-UT subjects were discovered attempting to hide on the diving platforms. The officer learned the subjects were taking part in the UT Volleyball camp and had wanted to see the Swim Center. The subjects were issued a verbal Criminal Trespass Warning and were escorted from the area. Occurred on: 6-30-11, at 2:01 AM UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student was discovered passed out inside the 1st floor women’s restroom. During the investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the student’s breath. The officers learned the student was under the legal age of 21. The student informed the officers she had only consumed two beers, but later recanted and stated she had also consumed several shots of rum. Due to the student’s reaction and her intoxication level, Austin EMS treated the student at the scene and transported her to a local area hospital. Occurred on: 6-29-11, at 9:24 PM. 100 BLOCK EAST 23rd STREET Public Intoxication: A non-UT was observed falling as she attempted to exit a public bus. When she fell, the subject did not put her arms out to break her fall. During the investigation, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath and noted her eyes were blood shot and watery. Austin EMS arrived to the scene to treat her for injuries sustained in the fall. The subject informed the EMS personnel that she did not want to be “impersonated.” After refusing EMS treatment, the subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 6-29-11, at 10:07 PM. Crime Prevention Tip of the Day: The 4th of July weekend is quickly coming upon us. Due to the current weather conditions in the Central Texas area, this is a reminder to all that fireworks are banned. CAMPUS WIDE: Non-Criminal Calls: In addition to the above criminal cases, the University of Texas Police Department responded to 17Alarm Calls, 1 Medical Emergency Call, 1 Welfare Concern, 3 Suspicious Activity reports, 1 Suspicious Person report, 4 Burned Out Light Reports, and 3 Unsecured Door Reports between 06/29/11 and 06/30/11.
