WALTER WEBB HALL, 2500 Guadalupe Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT Police Officer responded to a report of a non-UT subject passed out on the sidewalk located on the south side of the building. The officers located the subject and detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath. The officers had a difficult time waking the subject up. Once awake, the officers were unable to decipher his thick tongue slurred speech. The officers did understand the subject when he stated he had been “drinking beer and smoking weed.” During the investigation, the subject informed the officers that his ID card was in a small tin located inside his backpack. The officers located the tin, his ID card, and discovered a small amount of a green leafy substance they recognized as marijuana along with rolling papers. As the investigation continued, the subject stated he needed 911. Austin EMS treated the subject and transported him to a local area hospital for additional treatment. Prior to being transported to the hospital, the officers issued the subject a court appearance citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition to the law enforcement action taken, the subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on: 7-20-11, at 10:30 AM. Crime Prevention Tip of the Day: For the parents of this year's incoming freshman class, the countdown for the fall 20 semester has started. There are 27 days left before the first day of Moove-In. There are several things that you can start doing to get your student ready. Each day we will be increasing your To Do List as the fall semester gets closer. To Do List 7-21-11 Has your student marked all of their property with a State issued driver's license or ID number? Such items like their laptop computer, IPod, cellular telephone, gaming system, and ladies, your Chi hair straighter also needs this State issued DL or ID number engraved on two surfaces that are plainly visible. Remember, property thefts are the number 1 crime at UT. Engravers can be checked out from most police departments throughout the State of Texas. If you wait until Moove-In you can check out an engraver from the UT Police Department or from an on-campus dormitory. Last year we launched a new program that allows you to register your property on-line. Registering your property is very helpful in theft investigations and in returning lost property to its rightful owner. Without identifying information, recovering stolen property is virtually impossible.
