Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Friday, 09/09/11 and 09/12/11. ADMINISTRATIVE MESSAGE The University of Texas Police Department is currently accepting applications for the next Citizen Police Academy. CONFERENCE CENTER PARKING GARAGE, 1900 University Ave. Criminal Mischief: A UT staff member discovered the control arm to the exit gate had been damaged. During the investigation, the officers reviewed the camera footage and observed a subject approach the gate in a grey Porshe. The subject exited the vehicle and forced the control arm up. The officers then observed the vehicle drive away. Repair costs: $200.00. Occurred on: 9-11-11, at 2:20 AM. DKR TEXAS MEMORIAL STADIUM, 2200 Robert Dedman Dr. Possession of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT Police Officer observed the top of a flask sticking out of the pocket of a UT student. When stopped, the student handed the flask to the officer and stated the flask contained whisky. The student was issued a summons for Possession of Alcohol by a Minor and was escorted from the stadium. Occurred on: 9-10-11, at 8:35 PM. DKR TEXAS MEMORIAL STADIUM, 2200 Robert Dedman Dr. Possession of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT Police Officer and a DPS Trooper observed a UT Student using the hand railing to support himself. During the investigation, the officers detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the student’s breath. The student admitted to having consumed two beers prior to the start of the football game. The student was issued a court appearance citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and was escorted from the stadium. Occurred on: 9-10-11, at 8:00 PM. DKR TEXAS MEMORIAL STADIUM, 2200 Robert Dedman Dr. Possession of Alcohol by a Minor: A DPS Trooper observed a UT Student staggering and using the wall to support himself. During the investigation, the officers detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the student’s breath. The student was issued a court appearance citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and was escorted from the stadium. Occurred on: 9-10-11, at 7:33 PM. NORTH END ZONE, 405 East 23rd Street Consumption of Alcohol: A non-UT subject was discovered passed out inside a first floor women’s restroom. During the investigation, the officers detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath. The officers learned the subject was under the legal age of 21 and issued her a court appearence citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 9-10-11, at 7:21 AM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported she had left her Medical Instrumentation textbook unattended and unsecured at a study table located on the 1st floor. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred on: 9-12-11, between 1:00 AM and 1:05 AM. SAN JACINTO RESIDENCE HALL, 309 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student observed a subject enter into the 2nd floor piano lounge and pick up an unattended IPod and leave the room. During the investigation, the officers were able to identify the suspect as another UT student. Officers located the suspect, who just happened to still be in possession of the stolen IPod Touch. The student was taken into custody for Theft and transported to Central Booking. Recovered Property: $150.00. Occurred on: 9-11-11, at 6:00 PM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Public Intoxication / Evading Arrest (2 Counts): A UT staff member reported discovering two partially clad subjects inside the 3rd floor women’s restroom. During the investigation, the officers located the subjects as they both entered into a stairwell in a vain attempt to leave the area. The subjects refused to stop when told to by the officers to do so. The subjects were located exiting the building and quickly walking, staggering and stumbling. As the investigation continued, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the breaths of both subjects. Both subjects were taken into custody for Public Intoxication / Evading Arrest and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 9-10-11, at 3:45 PM. UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, 1616 Guadalupe Theft: A non-UT subject was observed removing copper wire from the fifth floor wall. The subject was described as: white male, 40 to 50 years of age with a light beard. Subject was last seen wearing an orange shirt and an orange backpack. Loss value: $2,000.00. Occurred on: 9-10-11 at 2:50 PM. UNIVERSITY INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE, 1701 Manor Road Graffiti: Words written in black aerosol paint were discovered on the dumpster enclosure located on the south side of the building. Repair Costs: $50.00. Discovered on: 9-11-11, at 1:54 PM. 200 BLOCK EAST 24th STREET Criminal Mischief: A UT student discovered an unknown subject had struck the driver’s side mirror of his vehicle causing damage. Repair Costs: $150.00. Occurred on: 9-10-11, between 3:45 PM and 10:14 PM. 500 BLOCK MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD. Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was discovered passed out and drooling at a bus stop. During the investigation, the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the subject’s breath and noted other signs of intoxication. The subject would respond to the officer’s questions with only a blank stare. The subject was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 9-10-11, at 9:05 PM. 2500 BLOCK WHITIS AVE Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT Police Officer observed a UT student staggering and stumbling as he walked along the edge of the roadway. During the investigation, the officer learned the student had been coming from a “Sobriety Appreciation, Plan 2 Honors Program party.” While at the party, the student stated he had consumed three glasses of “Trashcan Punch.” The officer learned the student was under the legal age of 21 and issued him a court appearance citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 9-10-11, at 2:41 AM. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 53 Alarm Calls, 3 Call Box Alarms, 3 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Suspicious Person Call, 2 EMS Calls, and 16 Unsecured Door Report between 09/09/11 and 09/12/11.
