Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Tuesday, 10/04/11 and Wednesday, 10/05/11. National Night Out / Safety Week The University of Texas Police Department would like to thank everyone who attended the National Night Out events at Brackenridge Apartments, Gregory Gym Plaza, Kinsolving Dormitory, Jester Dormitory, and Waller Creek Residence Halls. Safety Week is still going on for the remainder of the week, so be on the lookout for UTPD when they are out and about. COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, 2110 Speedway Theft: A black backpack containing a Dell laptop computer, Casio calculator, HP calculator, several credit cards and personal identification was reported stolen. During the investigation, the officer learned the property had been left unattended and unsecured outside a 2nd floor restroom. Loss value: $537.00. Occurred on: 10-04-11, at 11:32 AM. LITTLEFIELD HOUSE, 302 West 24th Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject approached a UT staff member wanting assistance entering the Littlefield Home to “do some work.” The staff member notified the Police Department once the subject moved behind several bushes located on the south side of the building. During the investigation, the officer located the subject. The subject handed the officers the Queen of Hearts when asked for his identification. The subject stated “his Queen” wanted him to get a job. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 10-04-11, at 8:17 AM. SANCHEZ BUILDING, 1912 Speedway Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping inside an established campsite located on the south side of the building. During the investigation, the officers soon learned the subject had received a prior written Criminal Trespass Warning and was taken into custody for Criminal Trespass. The subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 10-05-11, at 2:53 AM. SOUTH MALL, 100 BLOCK West 21st Street Theft: A blue REI Navarro mountain bicycle was reported stolen after being secured with a self locking chain lock to the bike rack located on the west side of the building. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred on: 10-03-11, between 3:50 PM and 5:30 PM. 2100 BLOCK SPEEDWAY Failure to Stop and Render Aid: A UT staff member reported witnessing a bicyclist and a black Chevy truck collide. The driver of the truck left the area without stopping to see if the bicyclist had been injured. During the investigation, the officers located the UT student who had been struck by the vehicle. The student refused EMS. Occurred on: 10-04-11, at 12:25 PM. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 11 Alarm Calls, 2 Suspicious Person Calls, 2 EMS calls, and 4 Unsecured Door Report between 10/04/11 and 10/05/11.
