Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Friday, 10/14/11 and Monday 10/17/11. ART BUILDING, 2301 San Jacinto Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UT Police Officer observed two UT students sitting in the patio area of the building. As the officers approached the students, one officer detected the odor of burned marijuana and noticed a glass pipe protruding out on the student’s pocket. The student removed the pipe from his pocket as well as a grinder. The second student removed a glass jar containing a green leafy substance that was not Oregano. The substance tested positive for Marijuana. The student was issued a court appearance citation for Possession of Marijuana. Occurred on: 10-15-11, at 4:52 AM. DKR TEXAS MEMORIAL STADIUM, 2200 Robert Dedman Dr. Public Intoxication (2 Counts): Two UT students were observed falling from their seats in section 29. Both students were observed attempting to stand, but could not maintain their balance. Officers soon discovered why this was a problem. Both students were in possession of a flask that contained alcohol. When they fell both spilled their mixed drinks. During the investigation, both students attempted to communicate with the officers in a thick tongued, mush mouthed dialect that the officers could not understand. Both students were taken into custody for Public Intoxication and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 10-15-11, at 5:42 PM. MIKE MYERS STADIUM, 707 Clyde Littlefield Possession of Marijuana / Disorderly Conduct-Fighting: A non-UT subject stumbled into the middle of a tailgate party and fell down. The subject then began fighting with a subject who was attempting to help him up. During the investigation, the officer learned the suspect had been argumentative towards others attending the tailgate. The suspect was taken into custody for DOC-Fighting. During a search of the subject, the officers located a small plastic baggie containing marijuana in his sock. The subject was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 10-15-11, at 4:16 PM. NORTH END ZONE, 405 East 23rd Street Public Intoxication (2 Counts): Two UT students were observed consuming drinks that had not been sold inside the East Terrace Club. The officers noted both subjects were swaying back and forth and having a difficult time maintaining their balance. When asked if they would talk to the officer, both replied, “October 13, at about 1600 hours.” Both subjects were exhibiting other signs of intoxication and were taken into custody. Both students were transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 10-15-11, at 5:09 PM. SANCHEZ BUILDING, 1912 Speedway Criminal Mischief: A UT staff member discovered a glass panel inside a 5th floor office had been broken out. Estimated damage: $500.00. Discovered on: 10-15-11, at 10:25 AM. SPEEDWAY GARAGE, 2605 Speedway Assist Outside Agency: A UT Police Officer responded to a report of a stolen vehicle located on the 3rd level of the garage. During the investigation, the officers located a grey Jeep that had received several paring tickets and learned the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Austin Police Department. The vehicle was impounded and released to the Austin Police Department. Occurred on: 10-15-11, at 1:55 PM. UNION BUILDING, #4 West Mall Harassment: A UT student reported receiving several strings of harassing text messages from a non-UT subject. During the investigation, the officer learned the student had told the non-UT subject to stop harassing her, however the text messages continued. Reported on: 10-14-11, at 3:18 PM. 200 BLOCK EAST 21st STREET Public Intoxication: A UT Police Officer observed a group of students attempting to carry, walk, and balance and extremely intoxicated student. Austin EMS arrived and began treating the subject. The student refused to be transported to a local area hospital so the student was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 10-15-11, at 2:12 AM. 1900 BLOCK BRAZOS Assist Outside Agency: During the course of investigating a collision, a UT Police Officer soon discovered a non-UT driver had an outstanding Outside Agency arrest warrant for Driving While Intoxicated. The subject was taking into custody and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 10-15-11, at 10:29 AM. 2200 BLOCK ROBERT DEDMAN Possession of Alcohol by a Minor / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT Police Officer observed a UT student attempting to walk into the stadium with a concealed flask. The officer also detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the student’s breath. The student handed the flask over to the officer and told the officer the flask contained rum. The officer confiscated the alcohol and issued the student a court appearance citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. The student was barred from the game and got to speak with the staff from the Dean of Student’s Office. Occurred on: 10-15-11, at 2:20 PM. 2600 BLOCK GUADALUPE Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT Police Officer observed a UT student staggering around in a parking lot. During the investigation, the officer learned the subject was returning from the Alpha Chi Omega house where he had consumed several drinks. The student informed the officer he was having a little trouble walking because he was drunk. The officer learned the student was under the legal age of 21. The student was issued a court appearance citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 10-16-11, at 2:18 AM. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 47 Alarm Calls, 2 Fire Alarms, 3 Call Box Alarms, 2 Suspicious Person Call, 6 Suspicious Activity Reports, 7 EMS calls, 3 Welfare Concerns, and 12 Unsecured Door Report between 10/14/11 and 10/17/11.
