Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Thursday, 10/27/11 and Friday, 10/28/11. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT staff member discovered a UT student passed out and unresponsive on the 2nd floor. While the staff member was on the phone talking to the Police Department, the student woke up and decided to run towards the first floor. During the investigation, the student made a run for the elevators while the officer and staff member were standing there talking. The subject was stopped and the officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the student’s breath. The student was issued a court appearance citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor once the officers learned he was under the legal age of 21. Occurred on: 10-28-11, at 2:03 AM. KINSOLVING DORMITORY, 2605 Whitis Ave Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT staff member reported being approached by an intoxicated UT student. The student asked for a ride from Kinsolving Dormitory to Jester. During the investigation, the officer located the student sitting in a chair, sleeping. The officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the student’s breath. The officer learned the student was under the legal age of 21. The student was issued a court appearance citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and was released to a sober roommate. Occurred on: 10-28-11, at 2:19 AM. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Graffiti: Words were discovered written in black and brown paint inside a 4th floor men’s restroom. Estimated repair: $50.00. Discovered on: 10-27-11, at 10:14 PM. SAN JACINTO RESIDENCE HALL, 309 East 21st Street Theft: A silver Schwinn mountain bicycle was reported stolen from the bike racks located on the southeast side of the building after being secured with a self-locking cable lock. Loss value: $250.00. Occurred between: 10-26-11 and 10-27-11. 300 BLOCK WEST 21st STREET Assault: A UT staff member reported two UT students were involved in a very heated argument on the west side of Calhoun Hall. During the investigation, the officers located the students and could hear the argument as they were approaching. The students were separated. The female student stated she had wanted to study by herself and her boyfriend did not want her to leave and pulled on her purse then took her cell phone away. The male student stated he wanted to handle the situation and not wait until the end of the day. Both students were referred to the Dean of Student’s Office. Occurred on: 10-27-11, at 9:34 AM. 400 BLOCK EAST 23rd STREET Driving While Intoxicated – Open Container: A UT staff member witnessed a non-UT subject driving a black Toyota strike a legally parked vehicle then drive off. During the investigation, the officers located the striking vehicle and the driver. The officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath and observed an open bottle of vodka sitting in the cup holder. The driver informed the officers that she had not drunk that much alcohol. The officers administered the Standardized Field Sobriety tests and the driver displayed a number of clues that indicated she was intoxicated. The subject was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 10-27-11, at 11:51 PM. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 22 Alarm Calls, 3 Suspicious Person Call, 1 Suspicious Activity Report, and 5 Unsecured Door Report between 10/27/11 and 10/28/11.
