New Feature to the Campus Watch: Campus Watch Mail Call How does a UT staffer get a panic/duress button installed at his or her desk? Is this an option that is available to all UT employees? Assuming that for reasons of practicality and cost it is not, what would you suggest as an alternative “sleight of hand” to summon police to one’s office in an emergency without tipping the suspect? Getting a panic / duress button is an option that is available at the University of Texas. There has to be a justified need, other than just wanting to have one. An alternative is to develop a game plan with your fellow staff members. Part of this plan is to have a code word that can be used to have another employee notify the police when there is a problem and you yourself cannot make the call. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 54 Alarm Calls, 4 Suspicious Activity Reports, 4 Suspicious Person Reports, 6 EMS Calls, and 7 Unsecured Doors between 11/18/11 and 11/21/11.
