BLANTON MUSEUM OF ART, 1900 Speedway Disorderly Conduct-Fighting: A UT Police Officer responded to BMA on a report of several subjects fighting. During the investigation, the officers located the subjects and separated them. The officers learned two suspects had left the area, but several UT students and a non-UT subject began fighting while riding the E-Bus back to campus. After being kicked off the bus, the fight continued to the plaza area of the museum. Two subjects were treated at the scene for injuries and transported to local area hospitals. A summons was issued to all involved. Occurred on: 2-10-12, at 2:44 AM. COMMUNICATIONS BUILDING A, 2504-A Whitis Ave Suspicious Person: A UT staff member observed a subject, later identified as a UT student, going into then leaving a 4th floor women’s restroom. The staff member stopped the student and asked if he needed any help. The subject replied he worked for Jason “at SSB.” The student walked away, but the staff member thought the student’s actions were odd and contacted the UT Police Department. During the investigation, the officers learned the subject had been seen on several floors exhibiting the same behavior. The officers located the student in a connecting building and learned the student was a student worker. Occurred on: 12-10-12, at 8:00 AM. Crime Prevention Tip: The reason this entry is in the Campus Watch was to hi-light the following. Within the Communication Complex several departments have banned together to raise the security within the building. Once the student had been seen on the 4th floor their action plan was set in motion and an email was sent out throughout the entire complex. This alert helped the officers locate the student in another building. I would like to see other departments doing something similar, creating a notification system that can be used to alert other staff and faculty members when there is a suspicious person in the building. COMMUNICATIONS BUILDING A, 2504-A Whitis Ave Assist Outside Agency: A UT Police Officer encountered a UT staff member inside a 3rd floor computer lab. The staff member informed the officer about a suspicious person that had been inside the building earlier in the morning. During the investigation, the officer soon recognized the subject as a known offender that had received a number of prior Criminal Trespass Warnings for CMA and a number of other buildings on campus.
