Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Tuesday, 08/28/12 and Wednesday, 08/29/12. INTRAMURAL FIELDS, 4901 Guadalupe Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was discovered sleeping on the sidewalk next to the entrance into the IMF Tennis Complex. During the investigation, the subject informed the officers she had been there for several hours. The subject was issued a written Criminal Trespass Warning and was escorted from the area. Occurred on: 8-28-12, at 11:30 AM. 100 BLOCK WEST DEAN KEETON Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (2 Counts): A UT Police Officer observed a male UT student assisting a stumbling female UT student across the street. A few minutes later the officer discovered the female student bending backwards while holding onto a light pole. During the investigation, the officer asked why she was hanging onto the light pole. The student replied, her boyfriend was walking away and she “wanted to do something stupid to get his attention.” While talking to the student, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on the student’s breath. When her boyfriend returned, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath as well. The boyfriend became argumentative and wanted to know how the officers knew they had been drinking. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to smell the odor of alcohol on someone’s breath. Both students were issued court appearance citations for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor once the officer learned they were both under the legal age of 21. Occurred on: 8-29-12, at 3:15 AM. 100 BLOCK WEST 21st STREET Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT Police Officer observed two UT students arguing. During the investigation, the officers learned the students had been attending a party at the Phi Psi house. The officers learned the male UT student had been drinking while at the party. The female student left the party early. As the investigation continued, the offices detected the odor of alcohol on the male student’s breath and learned he was under the legal age of 21. The student was issued a court appearance citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Occurred on: 8-29-12, at 2:58 AM.
