A traffic stop was initiated in the 1900 block of Guadalupe Street and the driver was identified as a UT student. The UT Police Officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the driver and noticed she began to hiccup. The driver ran into a few more “hiccups” while performing a series of sobriety tests that indicated she was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 08/18/13, at 3:07 AM. 2400 GUADALUPE STREET Assault Physical Contact: A female UT Student reported that a Non-UT male subject demanded she hand over her phone at the 2500 block of Guadalupe Street. When asked to see their identification, one subject displayed a driver’s license belonging to a subject that currently was not present. The UT Police Officer then asked for his “real” identification and the subject produced another driver’s license belonging to him. After this game of guess which license belongs to me, the subjects decided to play guess what I ate, as they lost their dinner on the ground multiple times. Once the vomit cleared, both subjects were found to be under the legal drinking age of 21. Both subjects were issued citations for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and released on-scene. Occurred on 08/17/13, at 1:28 AM. 1900 WHITIS AVENUE Driving While Intoxicated, Speeding, Disregard Official Traffic Control Device: A silver Honda was stopped in the 1900 block of Whitis Avenue after a UT Police Officer observed the vehicle drive through a red light, speed, and drive on an improved shoulder…..all traffic violations. The Non-UT male subject driving the vehicle had a strong odor of alcohol coming from him and slurred speech. The subject had difficulty operating the glove box and center console in search of his proof of insurance. Remembering his insurance was in the trunk, the subject took several vehicle supported steps to reach the trunk. The subject consented to a series of sobriety tests that indicated he was intoxicated. The subject was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 08/17/13, at 1:42 AM. 200 WEST 21ST STREET Assault Causes Bodily Injury: A female UT Staff member reported having her arm grabbed while walking in the alley between Whitis and University Street.
