The Citizen Police Academy begins on Monday, October 7, 2013, and continues every Monday night from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. for seven weeks concluding on November 18, 2013. Attendance at six of the seven nights is required for graduation. Applicants are subject to criminal background check. Please see the attached documents for more information. LOT 37, 2200 RED RIVER STREET Burglary of Vehicle: A UT Student reported an unknown subject entered into his white Ford F-150 truck by using a tool to break the driver side door handle and rip apart the dash board to remove an AM/FM/CD stereo. COMMONS BUILDING AT PICKLE RESEARCH CAMPUS, 10100 BURNET ROAD Burglary: A UT Staff member reported an unknown subject entered into his secured office and took a black Logitech subwoofer without his consent. COMMUNICATIONS BUILDING A, 2504-A WHITIS AVENUE Criminal Trespass: While patrolling the seventh floor of the Communication Building A, UT Police Officers saw a Non-UT male subject exit a bathroom. To call the subject a “frequent flyer” would be an understatement, as he has encountered UT Police Officers 22 times and has received notice not to be on campus each time. The subject was arrested for Criminal Trespass and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 09/16/13, at 4:15 PM. PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, 510 EAST 23RD STREET Graffiti: A UT Police Officer responded to the 6th level of the Performing Arts Center for a report of words and numbers written in brown marker along the sides of a bench. Due to location being the Performing Arts Center there is a small chance that someone considered the writing to be their personal artwork. Estimated Removal Value: $100.00 Occurred on: 09/15/13, 10:03 AM. DARRELL K. ROYAL MEMORIAL STADIUM, 2200 ROBERT DEDMAN DRIVE Public Intoxication: UT Police Officers responded to 11 Public Intoxication calls, located in and around DKR Stadium, during the UT versus Ole Miss Football game. I have included a few of Public Intoxication Arrests lowlights that occurred off the field. -Thinking it was his bed, a male subject was found in a UT golf cart not in control of his faculties. Wait for it….the subject was carted off to jail! -With a Longhorn shaved into his chest hairs, a male subject displayed a lack of balance while attempting to negotiate some stadium stairs. Things got a little more hairy when he fell down the stairs and UT Police Officers arrived. -Keeping with the motto “come early and stay late”, a male subject was found sleeping on a bench outside of the Stadium as he thought the game was scheduled for the following day. -Having worn himself out during pre-game warm ups, a male subject fell asleep twice while attempting to provide his identification to a UT Police Officer. All Occurred on: 09/14/13 CALHOUN HALL, 204 WEST 21st STREET Criminal Mischief: A UT Police Officer located a damaged mailbox and mounting equipment on the ground at the Calhoun Hall breezeway. Estimated Damage Value: $150.00 Occurred on: 09/14/13, at 8:56 AM. 7TH AND LAVACA STREET Driving While Intoxicated: UT Police Officers observed a tan Nissan stopped a red light at 7th and Lavaca. Obviously tired of driving and probably a fan of the band “Asleep at the Wheel”, the driver was catching some Z’s with his foot on the brake. Luckily the driver side door was unlocked and an alert UT Police Officer was able to reach inside and turn the vehicle off. With a strong odor of alcohol on his person the driver stated he “normally does not drive in this condition.” The subject was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 09/14/13, at 4:15 AM. 2905 MANOR ROAD Driving While Intoxicated: A UT Police Officer observed a motorcycle cross over the solid double yellow line (against the law) and initiated a traffic stop at 2509 Manor Road. The subject had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person and glassy eyes. The subject consented to field sobriety testing and was found to be intoxicated to a level in which it was unsafe to operate a motor vehicle. The subject was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to Central Booking. Occurred on: 09/14/13, at 3:12 AM. ROBERT LEE MOORE HALL, 2515 Speedway Theft: A UT Faculty Member reported his backpack and laptop stolen from his unsecured office. Estimated Loss Value: $1550.00. The University employs a wide variety of tools to make sure everyone on campus is informed during an emergency event—including text messaging. In order to accomplish emergency text messaging more effectively, the University is collecting cell phone numbers from members of our campus community. Effective August 26, 2009, this database of cell phone numbers will be used for emergency text messages. Please complete the form at http://www.utexas.edu/cellphonealert so you will become an integral part of this important emergency notification system and help the university to achieve the highest standards of campus and community safety.
