Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by the University Police Department between Thursday, 11/07/13 and Friday, 11/08/13. Attached is flyer from the JESTER ACADEMIC CENTER, 201 EAST 21ST STREET Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A female UT student was found passed out in a women’s bathroom stall located on the ground level of Jester Academic. The subject was able to wake up and sit up, while speaking to UT Police Officers. UT Police Officers smelled an odor of alcohol coming from the subject when she spoke. The subject admitted to drinking earlier in the night downtown at 6th street. The subject was identified as being under the legal drinking age of 21 by her driver’s license. The subject received a citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and was released from the scene. Occurred on: 11/08/13, at 3:37 AM. 300 EAST 21ST STREET Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT Police Officer observed a female subject vomiting, while a male subject assisted her with balance, in the 300 block of East 21st Street. The male subject stated that today was her birthday and they both consumed alcohol. While identifying the subjects, the UT Police Officer found that the male subject was found to be under the legal drinking age of 21. The male subject was issued a citation for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor and both subjects were released on scene. Occurred on: 11/08/13, at 2:38 AM. BRAZOS GARAGE, 200 EAST MARTIN LUTHER KING BLVD Criminal Mischief: The northeast gate arm at the Brazos Garage located on level G was found damaged and bent to a 90 degree angle. Estimated Repair Cost: $250.00 Occurred on: 11/08/13, at 3:00 AM. JESTER WEST, 201 EAST 21ST STREET Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: UT Police Officers responded to Jester West Dormitory for a report of a highly intoxicated female subject that vomited in her room. EMS was contacted and the subject received further evaluation before being released by EMS on scene. The subject was found to be under the legal drinking age of 21 and the report was forwarded it to the Dean of Students Office. Occurred on: 11/08/13, at 2:08 AM. CLARK FIELD, 300 EAST 21ST STREET Theft: A UT Student reported his wallet containing various cards as stolen from the basketball courts located at Clark Field. A second UT Student reported his wallet containing various cards as stolen from the same area. Estimated Loss Value: $79.00 Occurred on: 11/07/13, at 9:18 PM. WELCH HALL, 105 EAST 21ST STREET Burglary, Fraud: A UT Staff member reported her unattended brown wallet containing $30.00 cash and various cards as stolen from a 2nd floor room in Welch Hall. Prior to cancellation, the UT Staff member’s cards were used for several unauthorized transactions. Estimated Loss Value: $48.00 Occurred on: 11/07/13, at 4:10 PM. SURE Walk is a student-run volunteer group that provides walks to and from campus to UT students, faculty, and staff, with the help of student volunteers. Volunteers are gathered from trusted organizations from around campus, such as Orange Jackets and APO, and include both males and females. An agency of Student Government, SURE Walk is in service Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. – 2 a.m. during the fall and spring semesters. Emergency Text Message Service The University of Texas at Austin and its police department are responsible for notifying faculty, staff, and students of emergency situations (e.g., inclement weather, building evacuations, campus closures, etc.). The University employs a wide variety of tools to make sure everyone on campus is informed during an emergency event—including text messaging. In order to accomplish emergency text messaging more effectively, the University is collecting cell phone numbers from members of our campus community. UTPD generally schedules a Defensive Driving Class approximately once a month – based on need. The classes meet in the University Police Building, Room 1.318, located at 2201 Robert Dedman Dr (east of Memorial Stadium). The cost for the course is $25.00 (check or cash) payable on class date. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount because change may not be available. You will also need to bring your driver's license.
