Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Wednesday, 01/06/16 and Thursday, 01/07/16. ENGINEERING TEACHING CENTER, 204 East Dean Keeton Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was reported as sleeping on a bench located inside a 1st floor lobby. The subject was located and awakened. When identified, it was learned the subject had previously been issued a written criminal trespass warning. The subject was taken into custody and transported to another location for over-night lodging. Occurred on 01/06/16 at 8:44 PM. TURTLE POND, 200 West Inner Campus Drive Assist Outside Agency / Criminal Trespass Warning: A patrol officer observed a subject hurling objects into the turtle pond. The officer inquired was the subject was doing to which the non-UT subject stated he was throwing pieces of bagels into the pond to feed the turtles. After suggesting the subject not feed bagels to the turtles, the subject began to walk away. After approximately 20 paces, the subject stopped and began to yell, among other obscenities, that he had an active arrest warrant for criminal trespass. The officer detained the subject only to find out the subject had lied – the warrant was not for criminal trespass it was for the possession of marijuana. In addition to other law enforcement action taken, the subject was also issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 01/06/16 at 2:03 PM. 2300 Guadalupe Assist Outside Agency / Possession of a Dangerous Drug: A patrolling patrol officer observed two non-UT subjects engaged in what appeared to be an exchange of some sort. When the receiver of goods observed the officer, he quickly pulled his hand back and refused to accept delivery. When the distributor observed the officer, he quickly hid the small package from sight. When stopped, the distributor claimed he found the package on the ground. An inspection of the package revealed it contained two hand-rolled cigarettes containing the synthetic cannabinoid commonly called K2. The subject in possession of that package was also found to have four outstanding outside agency arrest warrants for lying down on a public sidewalk. Occurred on 01/06/16 at 11:00 AM. 1800 San Antonio Driving While Intoxicated / Driving While License Invalid / Driving Without Proof of Financial Responsibility / Assist Outside Agency: A UT Police Officer observed a vehicle driving left of the center lane of traffic. The non-UT driver of the vehicle then made an illegal turn onto another road and almost struck an unsuspecting motorist. When the officer initiated a traffic stop, the driver jumped a curb to a private parking lot and struck an unattended vehicle. The driver did not have a valid driver's license issued to her. The driver of the vehicle was found to be operating and wrecking a motor vehicle without proof of insurance. In addition, the driver was found to have two outstanding outside agency arrest warrants for failure to appear in court and driving while license invalid. As if all that were not enough, the driver was determined to have been driving while intoxicated. Occurred on 01/07/16 at 2:38 AM. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 15 Alarm Reports, 1 Fire Alarm Activation, 8 Traffic Violations, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, 8 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Medical Emergency Assist Request, 1 Accidental Damage Report, and 6 Public Assist Requests between 01/06/16 and 01/07/16.
