Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Friday, 01/08/16 and Monday, 01/11/16. GEORGE I. SANCHEZ, 1912 Speedway Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was reported as sleeping in a 2nd floor lobby. Officer found the sleeping subject and woke her with the issuance of a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 01/09/16 at 1:59 PM. JESSE H. JONES COMMUNICATION CENTER, 2504-B Whitis Public Intoxication: A male subject was reported as being intoxicated inside the 2nd floor women's restroom. Upon arrival, officer located the non-UT subject asleep on the floor inside a restroom stall. When awakened, the subject could not answer simple questions like the date, time and location. The subject could recall he had been drinking alcoholic beverages throughout the day. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a danger to himself and others. Occurred on 01/08/16 at 5:10 PM. SAN JACINTO PARKING GARAGE, 2401 San Jacinto Criminal Mischief: An exit control arm on the west side of the parking garage was forced up and off of its track. Repair cost: $150.00. Occurred between 01/10/16 at 9:32 AM and 01/11/16 at 2:17 AM. TRINITY PARKING GARAGE, 1815 Trinity Criminal Mischief: An exit control arm was broken off of the east exit to the garage and left on the side of the road. Repair cost: $150.00. Occurred on 01/10/16 between 12:51 AM and 10:56 AM. 2300 Guadalupe Theft: A sleeping bag and a jacket containing a bank card and identification card were stolen when they were left on the sidewalk while the owner went shopping. Loss value: $20.00. Occurred on 01/08/16 between 11:00 PM and 11:30 PM. 2400 Guadalupe Assault by Contact: Two UT staff members flagged down a police officer and reported a non-UT subject had attempted to trip one of the staff members as they passed by the subject. No injury was sustained by the contact made by the subject's leg and the staff member's leg. The subject was located and identified. In addition to her attempt to cause a staff member to fall, the subject also admitted to having previously smoked marijuana and presented the artifacts of a hand rolled marijuana cigarette. Occurred on 01/08/16 at 2:37 PM. 2000 San Jacinto Theft / Possession of Fictitious License / Public Intoxication / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (2 Counts) / Criminal Trespass Warning (3 Counts): Three non-UT subjects, who were under the age of 21, were observed carrying street signs as they walked along the side of the road. Upon seeing an approaching patrol car, the subjects abandoned the signs and fled into Waller Creek. When located, subjects were found to have previously consumed alcoholic beverages. One of the subjects apparently consumed more than the others as he was deemed to have been intoxicated to the point he was a danger to himself. That subject was also found to be in possession of a fictitious license which purported him to be older than 21. The three subjects admitted they had “found” the street signs somewhere between Waller Creek and 6th Street where they had been drinking. In addition to other law enforcement action taken, all three subjects were also issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 01/09/16 at 2:09 AM. 2500 San Jacinto Theft / Evading / Possession of Dangerous Drug / Possession of a Controlled Substance / Possession of Criminal Instrument / Criminal Trespass: UT police were alerted to a bicycle theft in progress. Officers located the bicycle under the rear end of a non-UT subject who fled when officers attempted to stop him. The subject continued to feverishly pedal until he ran into the back of a stopped patrol vehicle. Once taken into custody, the subject was found to be in possession of .02 ounces of the synthetic cannabinoid commonly called “K2,” 0.37 ounces of Methamphetamine, and a pair of bolt cutters. The investigation revealed the subject had previously been issued a written criminal trespass warning for the campus. Recovered value: $550.00. Occurred on 01/10/16 at 7:05 PM. 300 East 21st Street Graffiti: Black spray paint was used to write a word on two different cement retaining walls near the Moore-Hill Hall Residence Hall. Removal cost: $50.00. Discovered on 01/11/16 at 5:45 AM. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 40 Alarm Reports, 2 “Police Help” Callbox Activations, 27 Traffic Violations, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, 12 Suspicious Activity Reports, 3 Medical Emergency Assist Requests, and 13 Public Assist Requests between 01/08/16 and 01/11/16.
