Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Thursday, 01/21/16 and Friday, 01/22/16. 2700 Guadalupe Public Intoxication: A UT police officer observed two subjects crossing the roadway. One of the subjects was attempting to help the other maintain his balance as they crossed the road. Unfortunately, the subject providing assistance wasn't very good at helping as the other subject fell twice before the officer could stop them. That subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a danger to himself. Occurred on 01/22/16 at 3:18 a.m. 4500 Guadalupe Driving While Intoxicated / Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A non-UT subject was stopped for driving the wrong way on a one-way roadway. Several odors wafted from the vehicle when the driver's side window was lowered. The two most distinctive odors were alcohol and burned marijuana. The driver was found to have been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and marijuana to the point he was deemed to have been driving while intoxicated. A glass pipe with burned marijuana residue, .048 ounces of marijuana and a metal grinder were found inside the vehicle. Occurred on 01/22/16 at 4:29 a.m. 2700 Salado Driving While Intoxicated: A non-UT subject was stopped for driving the wrong way on a one-way roadway. The driver was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point she was deemed to be driving while intoxicated. Occurred on 01/22/16 at 2:36 a.m. 2200 San Jacinto Driving While Intoxicated (Open Container): A UT staff member was stopped for making an improper turn at an intersection. Upon stopping the vehicle, the police officer could detect an odor of alcohol emanating from the driver's breath. After several more clues of inebriation were observed, the officer believed the driver was intoxicated to the point she was driving while intoxicated. An open bottle of vodka, an open can of beer and a green plastic cup containing beer were found inside the vehicle. Occurred on 01/21/16 at 4:50 p.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 16 Alarm Reports, 1 “Police Help” Callbox Activation, 19 Traffic Violations, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, 8 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Unsecured Door Report, 1 Malfunctioning Light Report, and 3 Public Assist Requests between 01/21/16 and 01/22/16.
