Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Thursday, 01/28/16 and Friday, 01/29/16. BRAZOS PARKING GARAGE, 210 East Martin Luther King Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: Two UT students were found crouching down behind a brick wall while inhaling smoke from a small glass pipe. The smoke wafting from the pipe had a distinctive odor that was quickly identified by the officer as burning marijuana. The officer stopped the two students who admitted they had been smoking marijuana. The officer confiscated the pipe from one of the two students and found that it contained burned marijuana residue. Occurred on 01/29/16 at 12:11 a.m. KINSOLVING RESIDENCE HALL, 2605 Whitis Criminal Mischief: An unknown object was used to make pry marks on the coin box to a coin operated laundry machine located inside a 3rd floor laundry room. The coin box sustained damage but was not opened. Repair cost: $50.00. Occurred between 01/27/16 at 4:00 p.m. and 01/28/16 at 8:00 a.m. NORTH END ZONE, 405 East 23rd Street Theft / Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject approached the service counter to a sandwich shop located in the 1st floor food court. The subject asked to see an employee of the restaurant who he had recently dated. After being told the employee was not there, the subject reached into a tip jar that was on the service counter and removed $4.00 in cash. The reporting person asked the subject why he took the money to which the subject replied he needed bus fare. The subject then stepped away and sat down in-front of the restaurant. Responding officers approached the subject and told the subject they we reinvestigating a theft form the tip jar. With that being said, the subject raised his left hand holding $4.00. In addition to other law enforcement action taken, the subject was also issued a written criminal trespass warning. Recovery value: $4.00. Occurred on 01/28/16 at 10:38 a.m. PETER O'DONNELL Jr BUILDING, 201 East 24th Street Theft: A Samsung Galaxy 6s Edge was stolen when it was left inside a 2nd floor women's restroom. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred on 01/28/16 between 11:30 a.m. and 11:50 a.m. SAN ANTONIO GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Possession of Dangerous Drug: Two non-UT subjects were found loitering under a “No Trespassing” sign located in an alley way on the south side of the parking garage. The officer observed a small hand rolled cigarette next to one of the two subjects. That subject stated the cigarette contained “K2;” a synthetic cannabinoid. Occurred on 01/28/16 at 4:09 p.m. SAN ANTONIO GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Graffiti: Black paint was used to write letters on an exterior wall located on the south east side of the garage. Removal cost; $75.00. Discovered on 01/28/16 at 11:23 p.m. 2300 Guadalupe Possession of Dangerous Drug: A non-UT subject was observed sitting on the ground smoking a thin, hand-rolled, cigar. Upon seeing the approaching officer, the subject quickly tucked the cigar under his foot. The officer asked the subject what he was doing to which the subject volunteered he was smoking “K2.” The officer then recovered the cigar that contained .01 ounce of the synthetic cannabinoid commonly called “K2.” Occurred on 01/28/16 at 3:30 p.m. 2300 Guadalupe Possession of Dangerous Drug: A non-UT subject was observed pursing a hand rolled cigar between her lips. Upon seeing an officer, the subject removed the cigar from her lips and tucked it under a blanket. The officer asked the subject to see the cigar. The subject handed the officer the cigar and stated it contained the synthetic cannabinoid commonly referred to as “K2.” Occurred on 01/28/16 at 8:24 p.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 23 Alarm Reports, 1 Fire Alarm Activation, 19 Traffic Violations, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, 5 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Medical Emergency Assist Request, 1 Found Property Report, 1 Unsecured Door Report, 5 Welfare Concern Reports, and 4 Public Assist Requests between 01/28/16 and 01/29/16.
