Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Friday, 02/05/16 and Monday, 02/08/16. BATTLE HALL, 302 Inner Campus Drive Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was reported as trying to open doors to the closed building. The responding officer located the subject as he was still pulling on door handles. The subject stated he was trying to enter the building because that was where his friend lived. The only problem was that Battle Hall is an academic building, not a residence hall. The subject admitted to having consumed alcoholic beverages but stated he did not “know how to quantify how much” alcohol he had to drink. Occurred on 02/06/16 at 4:11 a.m. GATEWAY APARTMENTS, 1618 West 6th Street Graffiti: White paint was used to write words on the leg of a bus stop bench and on the pavement next to the bench. Removal cost: $100.00. Occurred between 01/20/16 at 2:00 p.m. and 02/06/16 at 8:26 a.m. 200 East Dean Keeton Public Intoxication: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was reported as running up and down the street and appeared to be “out of her mind.” The student was stopped and found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point she was a danger to herself; or at least mind. Occurred on 02/06/16 at 3:53 a.m. 2100 Guadalupe Possession of Marijuana: A non-UT subject was stopped for making an illegal right hand turn at a red light intersection where such turn is prohibited by posted sign. The officer's nose led him to the discovery of a hand rolled cigar containing .028 ounces of marijuana under the passenger seat of the vehicle. After a spirited debate between the driver and front seat passenger of the vehicle, the driver admitted ownership of the cigar. Occurred on 02/07/16 at 1:12 a.m. 2200 Guadalupe Public Intoxication: A cab driver flagged a patrolling police officer down and reported a passed-out fare in the back seat of his cab. Occurred on 02/08/16 at 3:04 a.m. 2300 Guadalupe Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was lying down with his legs in an active alleyway. Occurred on 02/08/16 at 12:54 a.m. 2100 Pearl Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was stopped for driving at night without the vehicle's headlamps illuminated. Occurred on 02/06/16 at 2:53 a.m. 2300 Robert Dedman Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was observed “tripping over his feet” and falling into the grass as he attempted to walk. After an attempt to locate a sober friend to care for the subject failed, the subject told the officer to arrest him because he “was drunk.” The officer concurred and fulfilled the subject's wishes. Occurred on 02/06/16 at 12:12 a.m. 2400 San Antonio Driving While Intoxicated / Public Intoxication: A UT police officer observed a vehicle stopped in a lane of traffic. The non-UT passenger opened the passenger side door, lean out of the vehicle and then quickly retreated back into the vehicle. The non-UT driver looked at the passing police officer and literally gave the officer the “thumbs up” before turning the wrong way on a one-way roadway. The driver was stopped and both he and the passenger were found to be intoxicated. The driver was intoxicated to the point he was deemed to have been driving while intoxicated.
