Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Friday, 02/12/16 and Monday, 02/15/16. CREEKSIDE RESIDENCE HALL, 2501 San Jacinto Theft: The top half of a breakdown pool cue was unscrewed from the bottom half and stolen. Loss value: $30.00. Occurred between 02/10/16 at 12 midnight and 02/12/16 at 9:00 a.m. JESTER WEST, 201 East 21st Street Public Intoxication: An apparent ancient Roman was reported as being passed out in an elevator. The bed linen dressed student, who was under the age of 21, was found on the 13th floor in a state of internal protest. The student was believed to have consumed modern forms of mead to the point he was deemed to have been intoxicated to the point he was a danger to himself and others. In lieu of arrest, the student was turned over to his sober, responsible roommate who agreed to assume care, custody and control of him. Occurred on 02/13/16 at 1:56 a.m. JESTER WEST, 201 East 21st Street Public Intoxication: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was reported as lying on a bathroom stall floor surrounded by a pool of discarded consumables. Upon waking the student, a wet spot on the front of his pants was evidence that alcohol is rented not owned. The student demonstrated why shopping while intoxicated is never a good idea as he believed there were 29 dimes in a dollar. Knowing his drunk-induced math challenges, the officer took it with a grain of salt when the student stated he had consumed “ten cups of alcohol.” One thing the officer did know was that the student had consumed enough alcohol to be a danger to himself or others. After being cleared by Austin-Travis County EMS, the student was turned over to his sober responsible roommate. Occurred on 02/13/16 at 3:23 a.m. JESTER WEST, 201 East 21st Street Criminal Mischief: An exit sign located in the 2nd floor lobby was broken free from its mounting bracket. Repair cost: $100.00. Reported on 02/13/16 at 10:02 p.m. MOORE-HILL HALL DORMITORY, 214 East 21st Street Assault (Dating Violence) / Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT student, and her non-UT boyfriend, engaged in an argument outside of the residence hall. The argument escalated to the point the boyfriend pushed the UT student. Both parties retreated into the residence hall. Witnesses to the assault summoned the on-duty Resident Assistant who called the police department. The UT student was not injured as a result of the push and the boyfriend was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 02/14/16 at 2:09 a.m. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was found relieving himself inside the parking garage. It is probably important to note the garage does not have any public restrooms so, yes, he was doing this in the open. The subject stated he had nowhere else to go – literally nowhere else to go. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 02/13/16 at 3:32 p.m. 2300 Guadalupe Possession of Dangerous Drug: A non-UT subject was observed sitting on the ground while smoking a hand rolled cigar. When asked what she was smoking, the subject admitted she was smoking the synthetic cannabinoid called “K2.” The subject was in possession of .004 ounces of the synthetic cannabinoid. Occurred on 02/12/16 at 9:36 p.m. 2300 Guadalupe Assist outside Agency: A non-UT subject was found lying down in an alleyway. When awakened, the subject was found to have 23 – yes 23, outstanding outside agency arrest warrants for camping in a public place and lying in a public place. Occurred on 02/12/16 at 1:26 p.m. 1900 San Antonio Possession of Dangerous Drug: A non-UT subject was observed sitting with a metal can in his lap. Upon seeing the police officer, the subject made an attempt to conceal the metal can. As the officer walked ever nearer, brown cigar wrappers could be seen at the subject's feet. The subject stated the can contained “potpourri.” A closer inspection showed the can contained .03 ounces of the synthetic cannabinoid known as “K2.” Occurred on 02/13/16 at 4:39 p.m. 2300 San Antonio (alley) Open Container in a Vehicle: A non-UT subject was stopped for driving the wrong way on a one-way roadway. An open container of alcohol was found on the rear passenger side floorboard of the vehicle. The subject was not found to be intoxicated. Occurred on 02/14/16 at 1:02 a.m. 2300 San Jacinto Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student, who was under the age of 21, was found sleeping on a bus stop bench. When awakened, the student was able to answer a series of questions correctly and was able to maintain his balance. While the student was deemed to have consumed alcoholic beverages, he was not found intoxicated to the point he was a danger to himself or others. Occurred on 02/14/16 at 2:02 A.M. 2600 Wichita Graffiti: Blue paint was used to write a word on the side of a “Police Help” callbox located on the side of the road. Removal cost; $50.00. Discovered on 02/13/16 at 9:30 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 72 Alarm Reports, 33 Traffic Violations, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, 27 Suspicious Activity Reports, 2 Medical Emergency Assist Requests, 1 Light Malfunction Report, 1 Unsecured Door Report, 2 Stuck Elevator Reports, and 12 Public Assist Requests between 02/12/16 and 02/15/16.
