Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Friday, 03/04/16 and Monday, 03/07/16. CLARK FIELD, 307 East 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was reported as following a campus tour group while making obscene comments. The subject was located on the playing field and was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 03/04/16 at 2:20 p.m. CREEKSIDE RESIDENCE HALL, 2501 San Jacinto Theft: An orange bicycle (make and model unknown) was stolen while it was secured with a cable lock to the bicycle racks located on the north side of the residence hall. Loss value is a shot in the dark as the make and model of the bicycle is unknown so let's just say $100.00. Occurred between 03/05/16 at 11:00p.m. and 03/06/16 at 12 noon. JESSE H. JONES COMMUNICATIONS CENTER, 2504-B Whitis Possession of Dangerous Drug: A UT police officer observed a non-UT subject hand rolling a cigar. When the officer approached the subject and asked him to put the cigar down, the subject replied with, “It's just K2.” The cigar was found to contain .009 ounces of the synthetic cannabinoid now known as “Just K2.” Occurred on 03/05/16 at 8:00 a.m. JESTER EAST, 201 East 21st Street Public Intoxication: UT Police and Austin-Travis County EMS were summoned to a 10th floor room for an intoxicated subject. Upon arrival, a non-UT subject, who was the 20 year old sister of one of the room's residents, was found wrapped in a blanket that was soaked in the subject's partially used consumables. The subject was intoxicated to the point EMS needed to transport her to a local hospital for further treatment. Under the medical amnesty act, the subject was not filed on for public intoxication or consumption of alcohol by a minor. Occurred on 03/05/16 at 3:00 a.m. MONCRIEF-NEUHAUS ATHLETIC CENTER, 2015 San Jacinto Harassment / Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was reported as leaving unwanted correspondence for a staff member who works inside the building. The police were summoned when the subject entered the building on 03/04/16 at approximately 10:35 a.m. Officers located the subject and issued him a written criminal trespass warning. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Graffiti: Yellow paint was used to draw an image and write words on the north wall of the parking garage. Removal cost: $150.00. Discovered on 03/04/16 at 9:13 a.m. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Driving While Intoxicated / Possession of a Fictitious Driver's License: A non-UT subject, who was under the age of 21, was found asleep in the driver's seat of a running Cadillac 4 door. When awakened, the subject stated he had previously consumed four “large” beers. The subject was found to have been in control of a running vehicle while intoxicated. During a search incidental to arrest, the subject was also found to be in possession of a fictitious driver's license which purported him to be 21 years old. Occurred on 03/06/16 at 4:35 a.m. SAN JACINTO RESIDENCE HALL, 309 East 21st Street Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A patrolling UT patrol officer observed three male subjects exit a parked van. One of the subjects had difficulty maintaining his balance and eventually “hunched” over a bush while exhibiting an extreme, involuntary physical reaction to the over-consumption of an alcoholic beverage. Initially the subject tried to play off his physical disposition to food poisoning after a failed attempt at a hot wing eating competition. The investigation soon revealed his condition was attributed more to do with how he washed the hot wings down. Occurred on 03/06/16 at 2:00 a.m. UNION BUILDING, 2308 Whitis Theft: An Apple iPhone 6 in a blue Otterbox with a Texans logo was stolen while it was left on a table in the 1st floor bowling alley. During the time period of the theft, the owner was bowling just a few feet away. Loss value: $500.00. Occurred on 03/05/16 between 10:00 p.m. and 10:22 p.m. WALTER WEBB HALL, 405 West 25th Street Graffiti: White, light green and dark green spray paint were used to write words on the north exterior wall of the building. Removal cost: $150.00. Discovered on 03/06/16 at 3:40 a.m. 1700 Guadalupe Driving While License Invalid: A non-UT subject was stopped for driving a vehicle with an expired registration. The subject was found to have been convicted several times before for driving while license was invalid. A license checked showed the subject was due for another conviction as his license was still invalid. Occurred on 03/04/16 at 3:48 p.m.. 2000 Guadalupe Possession of Dangerous Drug: A non-UT subject was observed hand rolling a cigar. When asked what he was rolling, the subject stated it was “K2”. The contents of the cigar and the various packaging found on him was determined to be .48 ounces of a synthetic cannabinoid. Occurred on 03/06/16 at 4:00 p.m. 1000 East Martin Luther King Driving While Intoxicated / Driving While License Invalid: A non-UT subject was stopped after impeding traffic in a variety of ways; including stopping in the middle of an intersection. The driver showed multiple sign of intoxication including confusion and compromised speech. When asked how much he had to drink, the subject stated he had one drink. The drink must have been a large one as the driver was found to have been intoxicated to the point he was deemed to be driving while intoxicated. To further dampen the driver's night, he was also found to have been driving while his license was invalid. Occurred on 03/05/16 at 2:43 a.m. 1000 East Martin Luther King Public Intoxication: A UT police officer responded to a request for assistance of another officer who had made the above traffic stop. When the second officer arrived, he observed a “spectator of the traffic stop” interfering with the first officer's stop. The second officer identified the non-UT subject and noted the subject was intoxicated. The subject had become lost after a night of drinking and was drawn to the flashing light of the patrol car. After numerous attempts to find a sober friend failed, the subject was taken into custody for public intoxication. Occurred on 03/05/16 at 3:30 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 77 Alarm Reports, 1 Fire Alarm Activation, 11 “Police Help” Callbox Activations, 13 Traffic Violations, 3 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 13 Suspicious Activity Reports, 5 Welfare Concern Reports, 1 Light Malfunction Report, 2 Stuck Elevator Calls, 3 Unsecured Door Reports, 3 Medical Emergency Assist Reports, and 6 Public Assist Requests between 03/04/16 and 03/07/16.
