Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Thursday, 03/10/16 and Friday, 03/11/16. BUREAU OF ECONOMIC GEOLOGY, 10611 Exploration Way Theft: A commemorative coin was stolen from a desktop located inside a 3rd floor office. Loss value: $3.50. Occurred between 02/10/16 and 03/10/16. CREEKSIDE RESIDENCE HALL, 2501 San Jacinto Theft: A silver and red Hyper Super Summit bicycle was stolen while it was secured with a cable lock to the bicycle racks located on the west side of the residence hall. Loss value: $125.00. Occurred between 03/08/16 at 3:00 p.m. and 03/10/16 at 7:00 p.m. JESTER ACADEMIC CENTER, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported his wallet fell out of his back pocket while he was inside an eatery. When the student recognized he was missing his wallet, he conducted a search of the area and located a fellow student who observed an unidentified staff member pick up a wallet from the floor. The owner of the wallet began to check the lost and found desks in the area only to learn the wallet had not been turned into the lost and found desks. At the time the wallet was stolen, it contained $9.00 in cash, a debit card, a credit card and two forms of identification. Loss value: $34.00. Occurred on 02/25/16 between 6:40 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. JESTER WEST, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A red BMX style bicycle was stolen while it was secured with a cable lock to the bicycle racks located on the southwest side of the residence hall. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred between 03/08/16 at 12 noon and 03/10/16 at 3:00 p.m. SAN JACINTO RESIDENCE HALL, 309 East 21st Street Assault – Domestic Violence / Public Intoxication: UT police officers were summoned to the residence hall to investigate a report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, the officers learned the subjects had exited the residence hall and separated from one another. Upon locating both parties, it was learned the two were in a dating relationship and had engaged in an argument which turned physical. Both students portrayed their version of what had transpired with each painting themselves as the clear victim. When a video of the incident surfaced, it became clear that one of the students was the primary aggressor and had struck the other several times with her hand. That student was also found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point she was deemed to be a danger to herself and others. Occurred on 03/11/16 at 12:42 a.m. ST. AUSTIN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2026 Guadalupe Possession of Dangerous Drug / Assist Outside Agency: A UT police officer responded to a request from a City of Austin police officer who was investigating a possibly intoxicated subject. The Austin police officer located suspected synthetic cannabinoid on the suspect and needed assistance identifying the substance and processing the arrest. The UT police officer tested the substance and found it to be .23 ounces of synthetic cannabinoid. The Austin police officer told the UT police officer the subject also had an outstanding arrest warrant for theft from the City of Austin. The UT police officer arrested the subject and booked him into jail. Occurred on 03/10/16 at 10:58 a.m. UNION BUILDING, 2308 Whitis Assist Outside Agency / Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT police officer observed a non-UT subject “swiftly walking away” from the building manager who was trying to talk to the subject. The officer stopped the subject and discovered the subject had an outstanding outside agency arrest warrant for soliciting in the roadway. In addition to other law enforcement action taken, the subject was also issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 03/10/16 at 9:12 a.m. UNION BUILDING, 2308 Whitis Criminal Trespass Warning (2 counts): Two non-UT subjects were reported as soliciting donations while strumming their six strings on the northeast side of the building. The two subjects were found picking away by their open guitar cases that contained a few dollars. The makeshift concert was interrupted with the issuance of written criminal trespass warnings. Occurred on 03/10/16 at 12:15 p.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 23 Alarm Reports, 1 Fire Alarm Activation, 14 Traffic Violations, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, 8 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Welfare Concern Report, 1 Medical Emergency Assist Report, 1 Found Property Report, and 5 Public Assist Requests between 03/10/16 and 03/11/16.
