Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Wednesday, 03/23/16 and Thursday, 03/24/16. EDGAR A. SMITH BUILDING, 200 East Martin Luther King Theft: A purple colored Nishiki bicycle was stolen form a bicycle rack located on the south side of the building. At the time of the theft, a u-lock was placed around the front fork of the bicycle and secured to the bicycle rack. The u-lock was left at the bicycle rack. It is believed the thief removed the front wheel from the bicycle and slid the front fork out of the u-lock and put the front wheel back on the bicycle before riding away. Loss value: $150.00. Occurred between 03/18/16 at 5:00 p.m. and 03/21/16 at 8:00 a.m. GREGORY GYMNASIUM, 2101 Speedway Theft / Credit Card Abuse: A brown wallet containing two credit cards, a debit card, a Texas driver license, and an unknown amount of Yen was stolen from an unsecured locker located inside the second floor women's locker room. Prior to the financial cards being cancelled, an unauthorized charge in the amount of $30.00 was placed on one of the credit cards. Loss value: $21.00. Occurred on 03/22/16 between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. GUADALUPE PARKING GARAGE, 1616 Guadalupe Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was found sleeping in one of the garage's stairwells. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 03/24/16 at 6:18 a.m. McDONALD'S RESTAURANT, 414 West Martin Luther King (non-UT Property) Possession of Dangerous Drug / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A non-UT subject was observed standing in-front of the McDonald's Restaurant. The subject did not appear to be waiting on a “two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun” as he was engrossed in his hand rolled cigar that was found to contain .01 ounces of a synthetic cannabinoid. The subject was later found to be in possession of a glass pipe used for the inhalation of illicit drugs. In true “you deserve a break today” spirit, the subject was only filed on for one of these two criminal charges. Occurred on 03/23/16 at 6:04 p.m. “I'm loving it!” MUSIC RECITAL HALL, 2405 Trinity Theft: A blue Ozone bicycle was stolen while it was secured with a chain lock to the bicycle rack located on the south side of the building. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred between 03/10/16 at 4:00 p.m. and 03/21/16 at 9:00 a.m. PARKING LOT 110, 2200 Comal Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was observed looking into parked vehicles. While no evidence of an auto burglary could be found, the subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning as she could provide no legitimate reason to be in the lot and looking into parked vehicles. Occurred on 03/22/16 at 2:48 p.m. 3800 IH-35 Driving While Intoxicated: A dutiful UT police officer observed a vehicle driving in a serpentine manner on a straight stretch of road. At one point, the vehicle almost proved two solid objects can't occupy the same space as the car nearly careened into another vehicle. When stopped, the non-UT driver was found to have been operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating beverage. Occurred on 03/24/16 at 12:55 a.m. 2500 Speedway Duty Upon Striking an Unattended Vehicle: A UT staff member reported seeing a red Nissan Frontier strike a parked and unattended Toyota Tundra. The driver of the Nissan drove away from the scene without leaving driver information. According to the witness, the Nissan returned to the scene after driving away and then left again. The witness was able to provide a description of Nissan to include a license plate. Repair cost: $500.00. Reported on 03/23/16 at 3:12 p.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 26 Alarm Reports, 8 Traffic Violations, 8 Suspicious Activity Reports, 2 Accidental Damage Reports, 1 Stuck Elevator Report, and 5 Public Assist Requests between 03/23/16 and 03/24/16.
