Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Friday, 03/25/16 and Monday, 03/28/16. ALMETRIS DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Theft: A blue Schwinn bicycle was stolen while it was secured with a u-lock to the bicycle racks locate don't he northeast corner of the residence hall. Loss value: $100.00. Occurred between 03/11/16 at 1:00 p.m. and 03/21/16 at 7:00 a.m. BLANTON MUSEUM OF ART, 200 East Martin Luther King Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was reported as “wandering around the courtyard and staring at people.” The subject was located just as described. The officer recognized the subject as someone who had previously been issued a written criminal trespass warning and took the subject into custody. The subject was found in possession of a debit card and a credit card that was later reported as stolen. The theft is still under investigation where the trespass charge was cleared by arrest. Occurred on 03/25/16 at 5:03 p.m. JESTER ACADEMIC CENTER, 201 East 21st Street Graffiti: Black paint was used to draw an image on a wall located on the 2nd floor of the west stairwell. Removal cost: $75.00. Reported on 03/28/16 at 4:11 a.m. JESTER ACADEMIC CENTER, 201 east 21st Street Criminal Trespass: A patrolling patrol officer observed a subject who the officer knew to have previously been issued a written criminal trespass warring loitering on the 1st floor of the building. The subject was subsequently taken into custody. Occurred on 03/26/16 at 10:30 p.m. JETSER WEST, 201 East 21st Street Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (2 counts): A UT staff member reported two subjects in the lobby of the residence hall who may have been intoxicated. The officer located the two UT students, who were both under the age of 21. While both students had consumed alcoholic beverages, there wasn't enough evidence to suggest they were a danger to themselves or anyone else. Occurred on 03/27/16 at 1:38 a.m. Manor Road and Red River Street (non-UT Property) Driving While Intoxicated / Possession of a Controlled Substance: A UT System peace officer observed a blue colored pick-up truck enter an intersection improperly and at a very slow rate of speed. The truck's presence caused another driver to swerve to avoid a collision. Once clear of the intersection, the driver stopped the truck in the middle of the roadway. Upon checking on the non-UT driver, the officer found the driver had a “glazed over” expression and had difficulty answering questions. The driver was deemed to be impaired to the point he could not safely operate a motor vehicle. One cause of the driver's impairment became clear upon an inspection of the cigarette he was smoking as it was found to be laced with Phencyclidine (PCP). Occurred on 03/25/16 at 12:50 p.m. UNIVERSITY CATHOLIC CENTER, 2000 University (non-UT Property) Theft / Credit Card Abuse: A UT student reported the theft of his book bag after it was left at the University Catholic Center. The book bag contained a variety of items including a laptop computer, a text book and several credit cards and a debit card. Prior to making a police report, another subject contacted the student and advised the student he found the book bag. Most of the items were left inside the book bag with the exception of the credit cards and debit card. Prior to the financial cards being cancelled, a fast – really fast unauthorized charge was made at a near-by Jimmy John's restaurant. Some of those credit cards were recovered in the criminal trespass entry listed above. Reported on 03/26/16 at 6:30 p.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 49 Alarm Reports, 1 Fire Alarm Activation, 5 “Police Help” Callbox Activations, 18 Traffic Violations, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, 22 Suspicious Activity Reports 2 Medical emergency Assist Requests, 4 Welfare Concern Reports, 1 Found Property Report, 1 Stuck Elevator Report, and 14 Public Assist Requests between 03/25/16 and 03/28/16.
