Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Tuesday, 05/03/16 and Wednesday, 05/04/16. WALTER WEBB HALL, 405 W 25th St Graffiti: While on patrol, a UTPD Officer noticed letters in white spray paint on two locations of this building. Estimated cost of removal: $200. Discovered on 05/03/16 at 10:48 a.m. 1600 BLOCK OF MANOR RD Aggravated Assault: A UT staff member reported that a non-UT subject attempted to assault her by swinging a large tree branch at her head. The staff member was able to avoid the blow but was forced into traffic on a busy street in order to do so. UTPD officers identified the assailant and arrested him for Aggravated Assault. Occurred on 05/03/16 at 5:10 p.m. GREGORY GYM, 2101 Speedway Ave Theft: A UT student reported that cash was stolen from a gym locker at this location. Estimated loss: $80. Occurred on 05/03/16 between 7:20 p.m. and 7:50 p.m. 200 BLOCK OF DEAN KEETON ST Evading Detention/Failure to Identify: A UTPD officer noticed a vehicle run a red light near this location and stopped it. The driver (non-UT) gave several evasive answers as to his identity and who owned the vehicle. The officer removed the driver from the car and was able to contact the rightful owner of the vehicle. The owner was very helpful in establishing the identity of the driver and when the officer told the driver, he ran away. Our officers caught him after a short foot chase. The driver was charged with Failure to Identify and Evading Detention, along with several outstanding warrants from other law enforcement agencies. Occurred on 05/04/2016 at 6:00 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 32 Alarm Reports, 4 Suspicious Activity Reports, 13 Traffic Violations, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, 1 Medical Assist Request, 3 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Requests, and 1 Public Assist Request between and 05/03/16 and 05/04/16.
