Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Monday, 05/09/16 and Tuesday, 05/10/16. ***SCAM ALERT: A UT student received a text message that claimed to be from UTPD and stated that a warrant had been issued for his arrest. The text claimed that the warrant was related to a housing contract violation. It's the same routine with a different delivery method. UTPD will NEVER inform you of a warrant by phone or text. If you are ever in doubt about the information you receive in any format, you can contact UTPD at any time to get help verifying it. *** BELMONT HALL, 2109 San Jacinto Blvd Criminal Mischief: A UT staff member discovered damage to a door at this location. Estimated repair cost: $500. Discovered on 05/09/16 at 7:49 a.m. 2300 BLOCK OF GUADALUPE ST Public Intoxication: UTPD Dispatch received a call about an intoxicated person at this location. UTPD officers responded and located a non-UT subject that had become too intoxicated to stand or speak coherently. Officers summoned EMS, who transported the subject to a local hospital for possible alcohol poisoning. Occurred on 05/09/16 at 4:28 p.m. UNION BUILDING, 2308 Whitis Ave Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UTPD officer patrolling this area noticed a UT student lying on the ground. The student had a nearby friend who was already calling EMS for his friend because he was unable to wake him up. EMS arrived and transported the student to a local hospital for possible alcohol poisoning. During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the intoxicated student was under the age of 21. Occurred on 05/10/16 at 12:42 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 16 Alarm Reports, 2 “Police Help†Callbox Activations, 8 Suspicious Activity Reports, 3 Traffic Violations, 6 Courtesy Escorts, and 11 Foot Patrols between 05/09/16 and 05/10/16.
