Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Thursday, 05/12/16 and Friday the 13th of May, 2016. 1900 San Antonio Public Intoxication: A UT student was observed staggering and nearly falling into the roadway before the UT police officer could stop him. The student was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point he was a danger to himself. Occurred on 05/13/16 at 3:01 p.m. Speedway and 24th Street Evading Arrest or Detention: A UT bike patrol officer observed an unauthorized vehicle driving through a restricted pedestrian mall at a rate of speed higher than the posted maximum limit. The bike officer pulled up to the vehicle at the next stop sign intersection and directed the driver to pull over. The non-UT driver contested the stop before yelling “See Ya.†The driver waved goodbye and sped away. The driver then proceeded to Dean Keeton Street where he made several illegal u-turns just to drive by the pursuing bike officer and two other bike officers so he could smile and wave goodbye two more times. As it turned out, the driver was correct in his prediction he would see the bike officer again as a marked patrol vehicle pulled the driver over almost a mile away. When the bike officer arrived, the driver was taken into custody. Occurred on 05/12/16 at 1:07 p.m. 300 East 21st Street Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was reported as looking at and attempting to lift bicycles off of a bicycle rack located beside the road. When the responding officer approached, he observed the subject and immediately recognized him as someone who had previously been issued a written criminal trespass warning. The officer took the subject into custody for criminal trespass. Occurred on 05/12/16 at 5:51 p.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 25 Alarm Reports, 8 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Suspicious Vehicle Report, 13 Traffic Violations, 16 Courtesy Escorts, 14 Foot Patrols, and 1 Public Assist Request between 05/12/16 and 05/13/16.
