Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Friday, 05/27/16 and Tuesday, 05/31/16. BRAZOS PARKING GARAGE, 210 East Martin Luther King Criminal Trespass / Assist Outside Agency / Possession of Controlled Substance: A non-UT subject was found loitering on the top level of the parking garage. The subject was found to have previously been issued a written criminal trespass warning. The subject was also found to be in possession of several tools for which he admitted were used to commit bicycle thefts. The two outstanding outside agency arrest warrants for theft further confirmed the subject's chosen career path. As if the subject's day couldn't get any worse, he was also found to be in possession of .45 grams of methamphetamines. Occurred on 05/30/16 at 11:21 p.m. FACILITY SERVICES COMPLEX BUILDING 7, 1300 Manor Driving While Intoxicated / Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon: A UT student was found sitting in the driver's seat of his running Chevrolet Tahoe. Both front tires of the vehicle were damaged beyond repair from what appeared to be collision. The student displayed several clues of intoxication and was deemed to have been in controlled of a motor vehicle while intoxicated. A handgun was found inside the vehicle. Because the student was in possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, he was also deemed to have been unlawfully carrying the firearm. Occurred on 05/28/16 at 1:09 a.m. JESSE H. JONES COMMUNICATIONS CENTER, 2504-A Whitis Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was reported as loitering inside a closed 2nd floor computer lab. The subject was located and found to have previously been issued a written criminal trespass warning. The subject was summarily taken into custody. Occurred on 05/28/16 at 2:26 p.m. JESSE H. JONES COMMUNICATIONS CENTER, 2504-B Whitis Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was found sleeping in the loading dock area of the building. When awakened, it was learned the subject had previously been issued a written criminal trespass warning. The subject now sleeps in a different controlled environment. Occurred on 05/28/16 at 7:21 a.m. NORTH END ZONE, 405 East 23rd Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was found loitering on the north side of the building. The subject stated she was asked to leave a public bus after the driver found her sleeping on the bus. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning and was directed to leave the area. Occurred on 05/31/16 at 4:34 a.m. ROBERT LEE MOORE HALL, 2515 Speedway Theft: A black case containing a Di Zhao Model 600 flute was stolen when the case was left unattended at an outdoor patio. Loss value: $3,500.00. Occurred on 05/30/16 between 11:00 a.m. and 12 noon. SPEEDWAY PARKING GARAGE, 105 East 27th Street Assist Outside Agency / Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was reported as discharging the contents of his night's intake by the entrance to the parking garage. When stopped, it was deemed the subject was not intoxicated to the point he was a danger to himself or others. The responding officer did learn the subject had an outstanding, outside agency arrest warrant for a parole violation on an original charge of burglary of a habitation. In addition to other law enforcement action taken, the subject was also issued a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 05/31/16 at 2:09 a.m. WINSHIP DRAMA BUILDING, 300 East 23rd Street Graffiti: A black marker and red spray paint was used to write words on the walls of a ground floor machine room. Removal cost: $200.00. Discovered on 05/29/16 at 8:29 a.m. 200 East Martin Luther King Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Tampering with Evidence: A UT patrol officer followed his nose to an alcove located on the south side of the Brazos Parking Garage. Upon reaching the alcove, the officer observed three UT staff members. One of the staff members was smoking a hand rolled cigar that smelled like burning marijuana. Upon seeing the officer, that staff member stuffed the hand rolled cigar down a crack in the alcove floor and poured an iced beverage into the crack. A small plastic box containing an even smaller amount of a green leafy substance was located next to the staff member. The green leafy substance later tested positive for marijuana. Occurred on 05/.27/16 at 12:48 p.m. 2000 San Jacinto Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was reported as staggering in the roadway while yelling he wished to cause harm to “someone”. The responding officer found the subject staggering southbound in the northbound lane of traffic. The subject, who was no longer yelling, did show several signs of inebriation. The subject was deemed to have been intoxicated to the point he was a physical danger to himself and “someone”. Occurred on 05/30/16 at 12:15 a.m. 2500 San Jacinto Criminal Trespass: A non-UT subject was found lying down on the east bank of Waller Creek. The subject was issued a written criminal trespass warning for the creek area. A short time later, the same officer located the same subject loitering in the same general area of Waller Creek. The subject was taken into custody. Occurred on 05/29/16 at 10:37 a.m. and at 11:01 A.M. 2500 Speedway Criminal Mischief: An unknown subject(s) forced the traffic control exit arm off of its track. Repair cost: $100.00. Occurred on 05/30/16 between 8:17 a.m. and 10:18 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 68 Alarm Reports, 9 “Police Help” Callbox Activations, 1 Fire Alarm Activation, 29 Suspicious Activity Reports, 2 Courtesy Escorts, 19 Foot Patrols, 1 Medical Emergency Assist, 47 Traffic Violations, 3 Motor Vehicle Collision Reports, 8 Unsecured Door Reports, 2 Welfare Concern Reports, 3 Found Property Reports, and 12 Public Assist Requests between 05/27/16 and 05/31/16.
