Report for 06/09/2016

Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Wednesday, 06/08/16 and Thursday, 06/09/16. SAN ANTONIO PARKING GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Possession of Marijuana: A UT student was stopped after driving away from a parking spot on the fourth level of the parking garage in a Toyota 4Runner with a license plate that had expired in 2014. Upon approaching the driver, the officer detected a very strong odor of burning marijuana. Three partially smoked hand rolled cigars containing marijuana and one partially smoked hand rolled cigarette containing marijuana was found in the center console of the vehicle. Occurred on 06/08/16 at 11:21 a.m. WALLER CREEK, 2300 San Jacinto Criminal Trespass Warning / Failure To Identify / Assist Outside Agency / Fictitious License: A non-UT subject was reported as sleeping in the creek bed (no pun intended). The responding officer located the non-UT subject and woke him up. The subject initially provided the officer with a fictitious name. After the officer located a form of identification in the subject's wallet, the subject admitted to his true identity. As it turned out, the true identity showed the subject to have an outstanding outside agency arrest warrant for an administrative parole violation. After taking the subject into custody, the arresting officer located a fictitious temporary identification card on the subject that listed the name the subject originally provided the officer. Occurred on 06/08/16 at 6:24 a.m. 400 West 23rd Street Public Intoxication / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Resisting Arrest / Assault on a Public Servant: A UT patrol officer observed a non-UT subject yelling words that would make a sailor blush. The subject displayed so many clues of intoxication; the officer took him into custody for public intoxication. The subject was found to be in possession of a metal pipe that had been used to smoke marijuana. While attempting to escort the subject to the officer's patrol car, the subject went limp to the point officers needed to physically carry him. Once in the patrol car, the subject apparently regained his strength and began to hit his head against the partition between the back seats and front seats. When the officer opened the back door to check on the subject, the subject kicked the door into the officer's abdomen and arms. Occurred on 06/08/16 at 9:30 p.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 18 Alarm Reports, 3 “Police Help” Callbox Activations, 1 Courtesy Escort, 5 Motor Vehicle Accidents, 13 Traffic Violations, 1 Unsecured Door Report, 3 Found Property Reports, 1 Stuck Elevator Report, and 3 Public Assist Requests between 06/08/16 and 06/09/16.
