Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Thursday, 06/09/16 and Friday, 06/10/16. BRACKENRIDGE APARTMENTS, 3355 Lake Austin Fraud: A UT student reported selling an item on a popular on-line auction site. The student mailed the item after receiving an e-mail indicating the item had been properly paid for. The student realized the payment e-mail was fictitious and the payment had not been made. Loss value: $728.00. Reported on 06/09/16 at 11:28 a.m. MUSIC RECITAL HALL, 2405 Trinity Assault: A non-UT subject reported she was confronted by a second non-UT subject who happened to be the ex-spouse of the reporting person's husband. The ex-spouse began to yell obscenities at the current spouse before striking the current spouse in her arm. The force of the impact caused the current spouse to experience pain in her arm. The assault also resulted in the current spouse losing her grip on her cell phone which fell to the ground and broke apart. After the assault, the two parted ways. Occurred on 06/05/16 at 9:13 a.m. UNIVERSITY CO-OP, 2300 Guadalupe Theft / Possession of Controlled Substance: A store employee alerted UT police officers to the presence of a known thief inside the store's dressing room. UT police officers waited outside the store and intervened when the subject exited the store while wearing a grey shirt he had not made payment for under his own long sleeve shirt. The store staff then pointed out the subject was also wearing shoes that were believed to have been stolen form their store on 04/25/16. The subject was then found to be in possession of three hydrocodone pills (these were not stolen from the store). Recovery value: $85.00. Occurred on 06/09/16 at 9:35 a.m. 2108 Concho Burglary of a Building: Two sheds to a community garden were broken into and several tools were stolen out of each shed. Repair cost: $150.00. Loss value: $1,475.00. Occurred between 05/31/16 at 12 noon and 06/07/16 at 5:00 p.m. 2800 Guadalupe Driving While Intoxicated / Driving While License Invalid: A UT police officer observed a non-UT subject attempt to accelerate a motorcycle from a stopped position only to stall the motorcycle twice. Once the subject was able to accelerate the motorcycle, he brought the bike to a speed that nearly doubled the posted speed limit. The subject was stopped and found to be under the influence of an intoxicating beverage to the point he was deemed to have been driving while intoxicated. The subject was also found to driving the motorcycle while his driver's license was invalid. Occurred on 06/10/16 at 11:35 p.m. 300 West Martin Luther King Driving While Intoxicated: A non-UT subject was stopped after stopping her vehicle in a lane of traffic for an extended period of time. The subject stated she was driving because her passenger needed a sober ride home. The passenger still needed a sober ride. The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point she was deemed to have been driving while intoxicated. Occurred on 06/10/16 at 12:31 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 18 Alarm Reports, 1 “Police Help” Callbox Activation, 1 Courtesy Escort, 1 Motor Vehicle Accident, 7 Traffic Violations, 1 Found Property Report, 2 Medical Emergency Assists, 1 Welfare Concern Report, and 2 Public Assist Requests between 06/09/16 and 06/10/16.
