Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Tuesday, 06/14/16 and Wednesday, 06/15/16. ART BUILDING, 2301 San Jacinto Criminal Trespass Warning: A non-UT subject was reported as pacing back and forth and yelling for no apparent reason. The subject was located and identified. The subject stated he was upset because he wanted to be somewhere else. The responding officers aided the subject in his desire to be elsewhere with the issuance of a written criminal trespass warning and directions to leave the campus. Occurred on 06/14/16 at 7:20 a.m. JESTER WEST, 201 East 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT staff member reported seeing a non-UT subject loitering around Jester West. When the staff member asked the subject what he was doing, the subject replied, “Don't worry about it.” The staff member did worry about it and called the UT Police Department. Police officers responded and located the subject. The subject had no reason for being in the area. The officers “worried about it” enough to issue the subject a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 06/15/16 at 1:14 a.m. JESTER WEST, 201 East 21st Street Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT staff member reported a prospective student had fled the lobby after being told a bar would be placed on his registration for rule violations. The reporting person was concerned the prospective student may have been intoxicated. The responding officer located the prospective student and learned he had consumed alcoholic beverages at a drinking establishment. The officer did not believe the subject was intoxicated to the point he was a danger to himself and issued the prospective student a citation. The prospective student refused to sign the citation and stated he wished to be arrested…wish granted. Occurred on 06/15/16 at 3:33 a.m. JESTER WEST, 201 East 21st Street Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A prospective student approached a UT police officer and reported his roommate had relieved the pent-up pressure of his bladder on the prospective student's belongings. The roommate was found inside the 9th floor room and identified. When asked why he had done such a thing, the roommate replied he knew not why he had done such a thing but did offer up that he had consumed alcoholic beverages earlier in the evening. Occurred on 06/15/16 at 4:10 a.m. JESTER WEST, 201 East 21st Street Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (3 Counts): UT police officers were summoned to a 1st floor restroom to investigate a report of a prospective student who was expelling the contents of her digestive system. Officers located the prospective student who told the officers she had consumed alcoholic beverages at a private multi-resident house of like-minded individuals. The prospective student did not appear to be intoxicated to the point she was a danger to herself. The officers elected to escort the student to her room and turn her over to the care, custody and control of her roommate. Sadly, when the officers arrived at the room, they discovered the roommate and a guest of the roommate, who were both prospective students, had also been drinking. None of the three soon to be Longhorns were intoxicated to the point they were deemed to be a danger to themselves or others. Occurred on 06/15/16 at 2:22 a.m. MAIN BUILDING, 110 Inner Campus Drive Public Intoxication: A non-UT subject was reported as being intoxicated on the south side of the building. The responding officer found the subject seated on the ground near a pool of his own creation. The subject was found to be intoxicated to the point he was physical danger to himself. In lieu of arrest, the subject was turned over to a sober, responsible friend who was willing to accept care, custody and control of him. Occurred on 06/14/16 at 8:56 p.m. PERRY-CASTAÑEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Public Intoxication: A UT police officer observed a subject almost loose her balance several times while attempting to walk across the plaza. The officer stopped the subject and learned she was an in-coming student who was on campus for the New Student Orientation Program. The prospective student leaned her head over her lap and experienced a severe, involuntary physical reaction to the over-consumption of an alcoholic beverage. The prospective student was found to be intoxicated to the point Austin-Travis County EMS needed to transport her to a local hospital for the treatment of alcohol poisoning.
