Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Thursday, 07/14/16 and Friday, 07/15/16. ANIMAL RESOURCE CENTER, 2701 Speedway Ave Burglary/Failure to Identify: A UT staff member found a non-UT subject inside the building who was going through his personal items. The staff member contacted UTPD and followed the person as they left the building. Once UTPD officers caught up with them and detained the would-be thief, he gave officers a fake name. Officers placed him in the county jail under his correct name. Occurred on 07/15/16 at 1:04 p.m. GORDON WHITE BUILDING, 210 W 24th St Theft/Credit Card Abuse: A UT student reported her wallet was stolen when she left it unattended for just a few moments. When the student checked her bank records, she found there had been an unauthorized charge to her card. Estimated loss: $150. Reported on 07/14/16 at 7:11 p.m. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd and Comal St Public Intoxication: UTPD Dispatch received a report of a heavily intoxicated person near this intersection. Officers responded and found a non-UT subject who was having trouble sitting upright without falling over. Officers were able to find a sober party who agreed to assume care, custody, and control over the intoxicated person. Occurred on 07/14/16 at 7:52 p.m. BRAZOS GARAGE, 210 E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd Burglary of a Motor Vehicle (x4): A non-UT subject reported that his vehicle had been broken into while it was parked in the garage. When UTPD officers arrived, they found several other vehicles had been broken into as well. Officers also found every vehicle that had items taken from it had been left unlocked. Total estimated loss: $300. Discovered on 07/14/16 at 11:15 p.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 23 Alarm Reports, 1 “Police Help” Callbox Activation, 1 Fire Alarm Activation, 3 Traffic Violations, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision Report, 2 Found Property Reports, 10 Foot Patrols, 1 Unsecured Door Report, 2 Medical Assist Requests, 3 Suspicious Activity Reports, and 3 Public Assists between 07/14/16 and 07/15/16.
