Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Friday, 07/22/16 and Monday, 07/25/16. LOT 108, 1500 Red River Street Driving While License Invalid/Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility/Operation of Vehicle With Expired License Plate/Outside Agency Warrants (x3): A UTPD officer saw a vehicle with an expired registration near this area. When they pulled into the lot, officers were able to verify that the non-UT driver did not have a valid license, tag, or insurance. They also discovered that the driver had several outstanding warrants from a different law enforcement agency. UTPD officers provided the driver with an opportunity to explain to a magistrate why they were unable to obey these traffic laws in the form of a ride to the county jail. Occurred on 07/22/16 at 6:04 p.m. W.R. WOOLRICH LABS, 210 E 24th Street Duty Upon Striking an Unattended Vehicle: A UT staff member reported that his vehicle was damaged while it was parked outside this location. The unknown driver failed to leave their contact and insurance information as required by Texas law. Estimated damage: $500.00. Occurred on 07/22/16 between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. 2207 LAKE AUSTIN BLVD Public Intoxication: UT police officers located a person passed out on the side of the road at this location. After determining the subject was intoxicated, officers tried to locate a sober adult to assume care, custody, and control of him. The intoxicated person called a friend in Denver, Colorado and asked officers to wait until he arrived. The officers on scene determined they were not able to wait that long and transported the person to the county jail. Occurred on 07/23/16 at 2:22 a.m. 1815 TRINITY AVE Public Intoxication: A vehicle stopped near a UTPD officer and let out a non-UT passenger who was intoxicated. The driver stated that they did not know the passenger and he was trying to give him a ride home. However, the passenger was too intoxicated to provide his address. The Somewhat-Good Samaritan left the intoxicated person with our officers, who took him to the county jail. Occurred on 07/23/16 at 3:37 a.m. LBJ LIBRARY, 2313 Red River Street Criminal Trespass Warning: UTPD officers located a non-UT woman sleeping in the grass outside this location. When our officers checked to see if she needed medical attention, she refused. Officers informed her that she would not be allowed to sleep there, and she responded with several rude names. Officers issued her a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on 07/24/16 at 3:22 p.m. UNION BUILDING, 2300 Guadalupe Street Criminal Trespass Warning: While patrolling the area, UTPD officers discovered a non-UT subject, who had urinated on himself and was lying in a puddle of beer, on the terrace of this location. When officers checked on him, he stated he only drank two beers because he was divinely inspired to give away the rest. Officers contacted EMS, who determined that the subject needed medical attention. UTPD officers issued him a written Criminal Trespass Warning before the ambulance left. Occurred on 07/24/16 at 6:25 p.m. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 E 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warning: UTPD officers observed a non-UT subject attempt to open a locked door at this location. After determining the man had no legitimate business on campus, officers issued him a written Criminal Trespass Warning. Occurred on 07/24/16 at 10:20 p.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 33 Alarm Reports, 57 Traffic Violations, 23 Suspicious Activity Reports, 27 Foot Patrols, 6 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Requests, 2 Police “Emergency Help” Callbox Activations, 4 Medical Assist Requests, and 8 Public Assists between 07/22/16 and 07/25/16.
