Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Thursday, 08/04/16 and Friday, 08/05/16. COMMUNICATIONS BUILDING B, 2504-B Whitis Ave Theft: An unknown person stole a bicycle from the racks outside this location. A U-lock was used to secure the front of the bicycle to the rack and those items were recovered. Estimated loss value: $406. Occurred between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on 08/04/16. 2300 BLOCK OF SAN JACINTO Driving While License Invalid: A patrolling UTPD officer noticed a vehicle with an expired registration sticker at this location. When our officer stopped the vehicle he discovered that the non-UT driver had never bothered to acquire a driver's license. The driver was arrested and transported to the county jail. Occurred at 7:01 p.m. on 08/04/16. 1100 BLOCK OF LAVACA Public Intoxication: A UTPD officer noticed a person stumbling on the sidewalk at this location. While our officer was observing the non-UT subject, he saw the man fall down. When the officer checked to make sure the man was not injured, he noticed a heavy smell of alcohol from the man's breath and clothing. The man had difficulty remaining upright unassisted and had several recent scrapes and scratches, indicating that this was not the first time he had fallen down on his way home. Officers were unable to locate a person willing to assume care, custody, and control of the subject, so they transported him to someone who would: the staff at the county jail. Occurred at 3:21 a.m. on 08/05/16. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 17 Alarm Reports, 7 Traffic Violations, 5 Suspicious Activity Reports, 4 Foot Patrols, 4 Unsecured Door Reports, 4 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Requests, and 6 Public Assists between 08/04/16 and 08/05/16.
