Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Thursday, 08/11/16 and Friday, 08/12/16. 200 E BLOCK MARTIN KING JR BLVD Public Intoxication: UTPD Dispatch was notified of an intoxicated person near this location. Our officers responded and located a woman sitting in the road with several broken bottles nearby. From the smell, the officers quickly determined that the bottles formerly contained alcohol and that not all of their contents was spilled into the roadway. Officers were able to locate a sober party who agreed to assume care, custody, and control of the woman until she sobered up. Occurred at 10:14 p.m. on 08/11/16. 2400 BLOCK OF SAN GABRIEL ST Public Intoxication: UTPD officers responded to a report of an intoxicated person at this location. Our officers were able to quickly identify the intoxicated person when she fell upon seeing police vehicles. When officers attempted to identify the woman, she spelled the month of September (which was not her name) and claimed to be born 8 years into the future. Our officers determined that she was not a time traveler and required medical attention due to her level of intoxication. The subject was transported to a local hospital for treatment by EMS. Occurred at 12:17 a.m. on 08/12/16. 700 E BLOCK OF DEAN KEETON ST Driving While Intoxicated: A patrolling officer noticed a two females standing in the median next to a vehicle with a flat tire. When the officer approached to help, they immediately noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the reported driver. When the officer asked how the tire got damaged, the driver told them that they were swerving. As they talked, the driver had difficulty standing on a flat surface and was very confused about the time of day. After conducting standardized field sobriety tests (with some interruptions due to the driver's gastric distress), our officer found probable cause to place the driver under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. Occurred at 12:50 a.m. on 08/12/16. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 26 Alarm Reports, 14 Traffic Violations, 20 Suspicious Activity Reports, 13 Foot Patrols, 2 Unsecured Door Reports, 4 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Requests, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, 10 Public Assists between 08/11/16 and 08/12/16.
