Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Tuesday, 08/16/16 and Wednesday, 08/17/16. ****Administrative Message**** The University of Texas at Austin Police Department and the University Police Officers Association will be hosting a “Coffee with a Cop†event at the North End Zone from 9 a.m. to 12-noon on August 19,, 2016. Come join us for an opportunity to speak with officers in a relaxed environment. The event is open to everyone; students, staff, faculty, parents, and concerned citizens. We want to hear from our community about your concerns and provide you the opportunity to ask questions to the people that actually patrol where you live and work. ****Administrative Message**** Attached to this e-mail, you will find an invitation to join the UT Police Department for the Citizen's Police Academy. Those interested in learning more about the law enforcement agency that serves our community will also find a Citizen's Police Academy Application attached to this e-mail. GREGORY GYMNASIUM, 2101 Speedway Criminal Trespass: A UT staff member reported a non-UT subject was yelling at staff members in the lobby of the gymnasium. Responding police officers found the subject yelling at the reporting person. Once calm was brought to the scene, officers discovered the subject had been yelling at the staff members about the sign-in procedures for visitors to the gymnasium. When the subject began to make racially insensitive statements about one of the staff members, the reporting person directed the subject to leave the building. The subject refused to leave the building. The police officers removed all doubt in the subject's mind about him leaving. Occurred on 08/16/16 at 3:51 p.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 12 Alarm Reports, 2 “Police Help†Callbox Activations, 7 Traffic Violations, 7 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 9 Suspicious Activity Reports, 13 Foot Patrols, 1 Welfare Concern Report, and 10 Public Assists between 08/16/16 and 08/17/16.
