Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Wednesday, 08/17/16 and Thursday, 08/18/16. ****Administrative Message**** The University of Texas at Austin Police Department and the University Police Officers Association will be hosting a “Coffee with a Cop” event at the North End Zone from 9 a.m. to 12-noon on August 19,, 2016. Come join us for an opportunity to speak with officers in a relaxed environment. The event is open to everyone; students, staff, faculty, parents, and concerned citizens. We want to hear from our community about your concerns and provide you the opportunity to ask questions to the people that actually patrol where you live and work. ****Administrative Message**** Attached to this e-mail, you will find an invitation to join the UT Police Department for the Citizen's Police Academy. Those interested in learning more about the law enforcement agency that serves our community will also find a Citizen's Police Academy Application attached to this e-mail. JACKSON GEOLOGY BUILDING, 2305 Speedway Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor / Possession of a Fictitious License: A non-UT subject was reported as being intoxicated. When stopped, the subject stated he had “a few beers.” The subject handed the officer a fictitious driver's license that purported him to be old enough to legally consume the aforementioned beers. The subject then went on to state he was 19 years of age. In lieu of arrest for public intoxication, the subject was released to a sober friend and issued a citation for the consumption of alcohol by a minor. Occurred on 08/18/16 at 12:53 a.m. 2200 Guadalupe Driving While License Invalid: A non-UT subject was stopped for driving a vehicle at night without its headlamps illuminated. The subject's license was found to have been suspended on several previous occasions. Occurred on 08/17/16 at 10:52 p.m. 300 East Martin Luther King Possession of Marijuana: A non-UT subject was stopped for making an illegal turn at an intersection. During the traffic stop, the police officer observed the remnants of two hand-rolled cigarettes containing marijuana. The investigation further led to the discovery of a plastic bag containing .11 ounces of marijuana. Occurred on 08/17/16 at 11:01 a.m. 2400 San Jacinto Theft: A black and red SE Lager bicycle was stolen while it was secured with a chain lock to a bicycle rack located on the side of the road. Loss value: $200.00. Occurred between 08/16/16 at 3:00 p.m. and 08/17/16 at 12 noon. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 14 Alarm Reports, 2 “Police Help” Callbox Activations, 13 Traffic Violations, 6 Suspicious Activity Reports, 3 Foot Patrols, 1 Medical Emergency Assist, 2 Unsecured Door Reports, 2 Malfunctioning Light Reports, and 2 Public Assists between 08/17/16 and 08/18/16.
