Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Thursday, 08/25/16 and Friday, 08/26/16 2000 BLOCK OF UNIVERSITY AVE Driving While Intoxicated: UTPD Dispatch received a call from a would-be good Samaritan who attempted to help change a tire. The caller reported being chased by a non-UT subject with a belt after he attempted to help him repair his damaged vehicle. UTPD officers responded and found a vehicle with a flat tire at that location. The driver of the vehicle was found to be intoxicated to the point that he could operate a belt responsibly, let alone a motor vehicle. Occurred on 08/25/16 at 4:02 p.m. JESTER ACADEMIC BUILDING, 201 E 21st Street Criminal Trespass: UTPD Dispatch received a call about a non-UT subject sleeping at this location. Our officers responded and found that the subject had a previous criminal trespass warning and placed him under arrest for violating that warning. Occurred on 08/26/16 at 4:48 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 26 Alarm Reports, 5 Traffic Violations, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, 11 Suspicious Activity Reports, 6 Foot Patrols, 3 Medical Emergency Assists, 1 Welfare Concern Report, 5 Found Property Reports, and 6 Public Assist between 08/24/16 and 08/25/16. UTPD handles over 5000 lost and found items each year from campus departments, although we cannot accept clothing, food or drink containers, toiletries, broken or soiled property. Campus departments are encouraged to call 471-4441 to have UTPD pick up lost and found items that are unclaimed after one week.
