Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Thursday, 09/01/16 and Friday, 09/02/16. BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING BUILDING, 107 West Dean Keeton Street Theft: A UT staff member reported the theft of an unattended cell phone. Estimated loss value: $840. Occurred on 09/01/16 at 2:02 p.m. SAN ANTONIO GARAGE, 2420 San Antonio Street Graffiti: A patrolling UTPD officer discovered illegible words made with black spray paint at this location. Discovered on 09/01/16 at 4:19 p.m. ALMETRIUS DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Avenue Theft: A UT student reported that their bicycle, which had been secured to the nearby bicycle rack with a chain lock, was stolen. The lock was not found. Estimated loss value: $145. Occurred between 8/31/16 at 6:00 p.m. and 09/01/16 at 7:40 a.m. UT ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, 1616 Guadalupe Street Theft: A UT staff member reported that their bicycle was stolen from the bicycle rack outside this location. The bicycle had been secured to the rack with a cable lock. Estimated loss value: $120. Occurred on 09/01/16 between 2:00 p.m. and 5:40 p.m. 2700 GUADALUPE ST Public Intoxication/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Possession of Substance in Penalty Group 2A (Synthetic Cannabinoid): A UTPD officer noticed two non-UT subjects passed out on a bench at this location. After the officer verified that they did not need medical attention, he noticed that one of them had a hand rolled cigarillo. The officer also knew items of that type are very commonly used to smoke synthetic cannabinoids, more commonly known as “K2”. After the officer woke both of the subjects up, they were very forthcoming about their recent drug use and allowed officers to search their belongings. Officers found more “K2” and placed both subjects under arrest. Occurred on 09/01/16. GOLDSMITH HALL, 310 Inner Campus Drive Criminal Trespass: UTPD Dispatch received a call about a suspicious person pulling on bicycle racks near this location. An officer located a non-UT subject near this location who matched that description. That officer also recognized that subject because he had previously written him a criminal trespass warning for all UT property. The officer woke the subject up with a free trip to the county jail. Occurred 09/02/16 at 11:19 p.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 32 Alarm Reports, 5 Traffic Violations, 15 Suspicious Activity Reports, 2 Foot Patrols, 1 Welfare Concern, 2 Found Property Reports, 2 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Requests, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, and 2 Public Assists between 09/01/16 and 09/02/16.
